I'm a Liverpool fan and i'm outraged that Luis Garcia is their, he can't dribble to save his life and he over complicates moves, the only notable thing he has done is scored that wonderful volley against Juventus in the Champions League last year. The only other thing he has contributed is a few easy tap-ins sme of which he nearly missed...

Well it's not like Maldini doesn't deserve it, but this isn't a career award. It's for the best player in this year, and Maldini has been better.

I'd say Maldini. 50th anniversary of Ballon D'Or could well be an exception, and acknowledge the best defender of the last twenty years in Europe. They might not have another chance. This cannot be another Raúl/Owen case, when Raúl deserved the win by far and Owen got it.

By the way, personally I give much more credit to the FIFA World Player award, as it is the national team's managers who vote the players, and not a French magazine and their friends. That's why some players that are not very spectacular slip into FIFA's list. By the way, how come Casillas is not in? Didn't anyone watch La Liga during 2005? OMG! :O
