Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Well TG, Anelka might've scored the most goals last season, but for vast swathes of the year he was average at best.

It'll inevitably be Messi, which is fair enough because he was absolutely amazing last season, but Xavi and Iniesta cannot be far behind.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Surprised Gignac didn't make the list of nominees.

And John Terry's on there again!

No Grafite? Harsh.

Yeah but I guess to be able to be on the list, he needs to be an 'international' player first. From the list, everyone bar Giggs who obviously retired, plays for their national team. IMO its unfair because Brazil have a lot of quality in the striking department...

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

The last 10

Didier Drogba (Côte d'Ivoire, Chelsea)
Samuel Eto'o (Cameroun, FC Barcelone puis Inter Milan)
Steven Gerrard (Angleterre, Liverpool)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Suède, Inter Milan puis FC Barcelone)
Andres Iniesta (Espagne, FC Barcelone)
Kaka (Brésil, Milan AC puis Real Madrid)
Lionel Messi (Argentine, FC Barcelone)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Manchester United puis Real Madrid)
Wayne Rooney (Angleterre, Manchester United)
Xavi (Espagne, FC Barcelone)

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Yup. Kaka actually spent most of last season injured and Pato was Milan's best player.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Funny how 5 of the 10 players are from Barca while the only 2 from Madrid are there because of their performances in their previous club.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

They didn't even choose the right player from our team.

Makes you wonder if some of these players are in on reputation, not merit.

Surely you could have fitted in a consistently good GK, like Julio Cesar over someone like Drogba, who blew hot and cold for most of this year.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

it always be a list of sympathy players and a few who earn this nomination! messi should win this.everything else would be a suprise!

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

I think it should be Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. Messi was by far the best player in all competitions while Xavi and Iniesta also won everything (besides the Euro Cup). On 4th place I would put Ronaldo.

I can't understand why on earth Kaka is in that list, it's a joke, while Graffite isn't nor isn't Pique, the best central defender last year in my oppinion (he even scored at Bernabeu in an play he started stealing the ball in deffense!

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Apparently it's like that :

1 - Messi
2 - C.Ronaldo
3 - Xavi
4 - Iniesta

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

I agree with 1, 3 and 4.
Ronaldo is too much of an indivdualist to be up there. He's (together with Messi) the most talented player in the world, but he's not a team player.
If Ronaldo had played for his team, Man Utd could have won the CL.
I don't understand why Dzeko is not among the best players...he was instrumental in Wolfsburg title rush and was also outstanding with Bosnia.
Personally i would have loved to see Giggs get a mention in that list too...he's still an outstanding player. This season he's one of the best players in the premiership, but 2010 being a WC year and Giggs being a Welshman, he just missed his last chance to win something in the Ballon D'or. He's one of the best and without a doubt the most consistent player of the last two decades. Shame.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Surprising that Villa only got 2 votes...IMHO he's the best forward in the world (maybe tied with Eto'o who was magnificent in the same league).

Poor Benzema...no votes.

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Messi is shit.

I can do better, playing for Lokomotiv Plovdiv with one eye closed and one hand holding my knackers...

Re: Ballon d'Or France Football 2009

Maicon, Forlan, Henry, Giggs higher than Ribery :TTTH:
did you see Maicon and Forlan matches? Maicon became one of best SB in the world (best in Serie A and Dunga's favourite), and Forlan became the top scorer in La Liga.
What have Ribery done in 2009?

^^ Agreed 100%. Besides, Giggs did a splendid season in Man Utd.. again! And Henry won the treble doing a very good season in all competitions. What did Ribery won?

Sad but true, if Ribery had had a big transfer this summer, no matter what he did in the pitch he would have been in the top 10 for sure. That's how (sadly) this things work sometimes.
