eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

That's the first i've heard of this since the PC versions were identical to PS4/XB1 versions since PES 2018.

I just assumed the input delay and responsiveness issues were universal on all platforms for PES 2020?

Maybe I'm the only one, but if anything judging by comments of other people last year I felt it was more responsive on Pc than on the other platforms, at least for my experience.

... doesn't change the fact that your player (and the AI player) will take steps towards a loose ball and then be dragged backwards as if on a string, for example...
Thank you... I mean, if Konami can't even fix simple things like this, then this game is beyond any saving...

These are both footage from PES 20, by the way... showing (or rather NOT showing) the invisible "strings" that prevents your player to get to the ball.

The new product (PES 21) at first may seem better, but then Konami will resort to their "yearly tactics" to appeal to the online players... It happened with PES 19, with PES 20, and most assuredly will happen with PES 21.

People shall not forget that Konami are made of scammers. They don't deserve a single dime from us.

I really hope for everyone's sake that doesn't happen.

I wish they were more transparent about gameplay updates. It feels to me like they aren't a response to community feedback - they almost seem random, and when you consider that they never, ever say "responsiveness tweaked" or "pass error increased" etc. when releasing these patches, it really does seem like they just fire a few random changes into each update.

Even when I've got the closest I've ever managed to anyone "official" within the PES dev team, I've been promised that they don't change gameplay with each data pack... and yet, they definitely do! (There was one instance, for example - someone help me out here - where the colour of the power bar changed in a certain circumstance, which proved a change or a fix that was never announced officially.)

Which begs the question, who makes the changes? Are they keeping gameplay changes "secret" on purpose? Why would you do that, if advertising those changes would make people interested in playing the game (or even purchasing it)? It's so strange!

I wonder if they worry the myclub crowd will freak out if they actually advertise changes...

Wouldn't it be funny if they haven't made a single change to gameplay at all and have the same code as the last update from PES 2020? I wish we had a PES dev here to confirm that.

Rex there really isn’t a massive difference bro It’s just subtle changes. Dribbling feels better same with right stick and collisions are less clunky in terms of stop-start animations and A.I. on superstar on exhibition is more enjoyable and less scripting but still scripting is there such as the passes to the CF turn and shoot but there is diff buildups and more long shots from A.I. and a little more dribbling in final third from A.I. (haven’t played ML but I sure the script is gonna be there in Full force like always)

if you like 2020 it’s a slight improvement gameplay-wise but nothing major and if You didn’t like 2020 it’s not for you. Depends how much those subtle improvements mean to your overall enjoyment.

I love dribbling. I’m all about dribbling with star dribblers so this is a bonus for me personally.
Admittedly, I do enjoy PES 2020 and have been playing it since release. I have an unhealthy need to play football video games (especially since I don't leave my house to play outside with people because of covid), and the competition doesn't offer what I'm looking for so I'm stuck with PES, which while it definitely has glaring problems that Konami is unable or unwilling to fix, it still plays a decent game.

I'll probably end up getting 2021 lol.

Need some help here...
I bought PES2020 on Steam. So I'm seeing 2021 at 39.99 (CAN$) for the special editions but 42.99 for the Standard Edition?? So, I have to pay... more? for the regular edition? And where does my discount for owning 2020 factor in? Is the game more than that for people who don't own 2020?

I'm mean, it's so blatantly obvious: KONAMI (purposely, of course) F* up the gameplay with both DLC 7 and 8 (in PES 20), so people will go out and buy the next installment, 'cause it "can't be worse than already is".

Imagine if they did the opposite... Who would buy the new game?

That's how big corporations and modern (savage) capitalism work. Nothing new...

This is how much it is on UK steam store mate if that helps in anyway

This kind of shit happens as a result of complicated animation and physic systems that just seems to be making a lot of bad calculations resulting in players basically "rebooting" at the slightest piece of contact, which means they don't carry on with their manoeuvre or objective despite under pressure, Instead it's like their brain & body "resets" and goes "aborting, now engaging procedure attempt number 2" and that's what gives you this frustrating jankiness because of course it's not natural, because it doesn't flow.

Older games just stubbornly continued animations even if it wasn't always contextual but you barely noticed it and the flow of the game continued. EA were the sorcerers of this especially on 16 just before the Frostbite bump in the road.

Even PES 2017 is smooth as a babies bollock across all areas that it's really like the ghost of a dead soulmate. We can't stop bringing up just how great that game was and did everything right & so well and knew what we liked but we're encouraged to move on and make love to our new wife PES 2020, And she's got a new haircut which is 2021.

Looks like a different woman but still the same old shit in bed.

Correct. But really easy for the devs to fix it... I mean, in DLC 6 Holland was able to iron out the .exe (plus DT 18) to almost prevent it, as evidenced in the gif below:

giphy.gif

So it's not that Konami can't fix it. Again, they purposefully don't fix it, or even make it worse. I mean... It's vomit material.

Yeah great, downloading at 9:30 in the evening, will be finished at 11, have to go to work tomorrow morning, so yeah, first disappointment already in the bag

People are entitled to their opinions. For you guys loving this - I’m jealous. I’ve just played 2 master league matches and it’s literally PES 2020 with up to date squads.

what am I missing here?

Not so up to date if you play in the Brazilian league. Konami has the first and second division fully licensed and still they can't have the squads updated.

That actually seems more like on EA's ballpark than Konami's though... I guess the biggest problem with them is they actually lack resources and they make a bucketload of mistakes (just remember the stuff messed up on previous games between Datapack changes) but they can't really afford to consciously screw up too much on purpose (as EA would do without even flinching since everyone will give them money regardless how crappy their game is)

Obviously the online crowd does screw up the game for those who don't play offline as companies do mold the game to cater to the "whiners" but I believe Konami simply can't afford to overstep on the shady tactics becuse unlike their competition they can't simply sit idly by and just wave their wallet and snatch licenses and be done with it so they still need to do some actual work gameplay wise.

Would be nice if there was no FUT BS and no myClub Fantasy football online casino shenanigans, as that way they would have to run a tighter ship on the offline aspect

You see, that makes sense. The standard should be cheaper. In my case the standard is more expensive?? How does that make sense??
It's probably to try and get more people playing MyClub - the only extra content you get in those "editions" is a few extra players/coins in MyClub. More people getting those editions and opening that mode out of curiosity, the more chance they have for those people to spend money on coins through the year, especially if they start it off by getting a player/legend from their favourite club.

Keep in mind that Brazil's a country like no other in regards to licensing and contracts... The legislation needed to be changed so the country would abide to FIFpro which it actually subscribes (what an irony) and Clubs couldn't BS saying that they pay 30 as wager and 70 as likeness and imaging. This whole crap should be illegal, because it looks like it's sort of TAX fraud (players declare less, clubs declare less, etc) and when clubs don't want to pay players they claim their salaries are on schedule it's just the other stuff that's due. And also having to individually negotiate with every player to have them featured in a game is borderline moronic imo but its seems that only the biggest absurd goes sadly

Thanks to Noname ah Coname ah Konami! I'm sure I will not buy this one. Not for this price and not with this gameplay, without San Siro; Guiseppe Meazza; AC Milan & Inter!

And I tought we life in 2020 and not in 1990.

My favorites clubs are all by €A. So can someone tell me a reason why I should buy this masterpiece of nothing?

Nah, mate. They surely don't lack resources.... But they definitely lack some sort of direction. It kinda started when they decided to part ways with Kojima.
