European Top 24 Clubs .....

No point explaining it to him, Sulph. He's only disagreeing with you because he's defending his country, thats all. The standard in EPL is much higher than at Ligue. Which is why Sulph rightly pointed out, we get 4 teams to qualify for the CL and you lot dont.

i gotta agree there, sorry thomas, especially smaller teams in EPL are much stronger than small teams in ligue 1.more money, better players, etc.

just compare the line up of lets say...troyes, nancy, ajaccio, and so on with those of west ham, west bromwich, fulham etc.

both groups are low in their leagues, but quality of players is just much much higher in epl.no offense to ligue 1 anyway, but imo that'S the ligue with the weakest "small" sides out of the european top 5 ;)

i dont know what kind of problem you guys have.this is a system by eurosport and the team that gets the most victories gets also the points.

this has nothing to do with the league.

and btw, except chelsea i cant see any english team that is better than lyon at the moment.

Yes but its easier for Lyon to get victories because they will play easier opponents in their league.

thats not right.you have to know that for lyon its more difficult to play teams in their own league because they are known very well.

and for lyon its easier to play real madrid instead of paris or marseille.

thats the story.european cups are always different.

and if the english is that good, why cant we see teams of the premiership in semi finals or even finals in the uefa cup or in the champions league?

the last english team (except chelsea, manchester, liverpool) in a semi final of an european cup i can remember is leeds united in 2001.

marseille played uefa cup final in 2004, bordeaux played uefa cup final in 1996 (coming from the intertoto cup !!!), lyon was great last season, monaco played champions league final in 2004.you know what i mean now?

Please stop about the Ligue level, that is stupid
Remember the last British team beat french one ?
I remember just Sochaux 1 or 2 years ago

Manchester United 0 - 0 Lille (2005) draw
Monaco 3 - 1 Chelsea (2004) win
Chelsea 2 - 2 Monaco (2004) draw
Marseille 2 - 0 Newcastle (2004) win
Newcastle 0 - 0 Marseille (2004) draw
Liverpool 1 - 1 Marseille (2004) draw
Marseille 2 - 1 Liverpool (2004) win

Results of the 2 last seasons

I watched quite a bit of the French league the past season and I feel forced to agree with the majority here - Everton vs Metz, #20 in the English vs #20 in the French league, would definitely go to the former, for an example. I know you want to defend your country, but there is a point where that becomes childish and silly.

Actually considering the overall quality, I'd say the French league is a tougher league than the Premiership is.

We'll never know if smaller teams from different countries are stonger because they will never play, I watch a bit of french football on C4 and the smaller teams don't look too bad, everyone is ofcourse going to stick up for the league from thier country so I'll say this as a fact, the top 5 SPL teams move to England not one of them would be relegated. ;) They'd be two in the top 6 aswell. :p

I think the name of this topic is wrong. It should me European Top 24 TEAMS and not CLUBS. If you look at clubs you look at the whole history regarding achievements. If you look at teams you look at it this moment and this moment Barcelona is the best and behind them Juventus and Olympique Lyon in my eyes. Best clubs are Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool and Ajax.

European Top 24 Clubs 05/06 if you prefer :)

I don't understand why Lille don't in this top 24

exemple :

51 pts = Ligue 1
14 pts = Lille win vs Sevilla, Shaktar (+ 1 draw) in UEFA Cup
18 pts = Draw vs Villareal, Manchester United & Befinca, win vs Machester United

= 83 pts  16th

Don't try to understand Fifa's way of doing things Thomas! You'll hurt yourself ;)

Logic isn't exactly always the biggest factor in their decisions and so you're better off just seeing something and calling it BS or agreeing but don't bother trying to understand why they do things this way.
