Fenerbahçe 3-0 Kayserispor

kayserihareketli1.gif

Alex de Souza unlocked a stalemate with Kayserispor through a sublime free kick, which sparked two more goals - one from substitute Marcio Nobre and another from Nicolas Anelka for a 3-0 result.

Full concentration was given to this league encounter at home despite the prospect of PSV Eindhoven’s visit on Wednesday. Carrying on from the convincing performances against AC Milan and Beşiktaş, Christoph Daum kept the same tactic and line-up with Nicolas Anelka playing as a lone forward with Alex de Souza behind him and the midfield trio of Selçuk Şahin, Stephen Appiah and Marco Aurelio.

Kayseri began with a neutral approach, not closing up and defending but not taking wild risks at the Saracoğlu either.

Anelka was in the action immediately, claiming for a penalty in the eighth minute for what seemed to be an apparent foul just inside the area. Selçuk Dereli waved play on. Volkan Demirel was called into action in our goal in the 12th minute when he saved a top corner destined shot from Alexandr Iordanov.

Alex de Souza was getting a lot of the ball and linked up well with Tuncay Şanlı in the 15th minute, nearly burying his shot in the back of the net if it wasn’t for the Kayseri defence deflecting the shot. Appiah’s first time release of the rebound went high and wide. Alex’s diving header in the 23rd minute went wide.

The first half performance would bring a goal if repeated in the second half, but Kayseri switched to a defensive strategy which made things harder for our side. A number of long shots came bouncing off the opposition’s defence as we tried every way to unlock the resistance.

Nobre was on the field instead of Tuncay in the second half, creating more presence up front together with Anelka.

Anelka tried his luck with a long shot in the 62nd minute but Ivankov, playing a good game in goal, prevented the lead from doubling.

Alex was constantly being clattered when in possession, but he took out all his frustration with a curler into the top left hand corner with a free kick in the 74th minute.

Nobre got on the scoresheet thanks to Anelka’s square ball just before Ivankov intercepted in the 84th minute. Anelka then turned goalscorer, picking up a through ball from Alex and slipping the ball between the keeper’s legs in the final minute of the game.

Fenerbahçe: Volkan Demirel, Fabio Luciano, Ümit Özat, Önder Turacı, Serkan Balcı, Marco Aurelio, Stephen Appiah, Selçuk Şahin, Alex de Souza, Tuncay Şanlı, Nicolas Anelka
Kayserispor: Ivankov, Bülent, M.Hanifi, Ragıp, Gökhan, Yardanov, Sadigov, Johnson, Rodic, Kamber, Fatih
Goals: Alex 74, Nobre 84, Anelka 90+1

Fenerbahçe 3-0 PSV Eindhoven

28092005samp89.jpg

Europe witnessed a true spectacle tonight as we brushed aside last season’s semi finalists PSV Eindhoven with a clear 3-0 victory - Alex de Souza starred, scoring two and assisting the other, but the whole team was worthy of credit as we got our first three points in Group E.

Marcio Nobre stepped in the team to feature in a re-shaped side due to Tuncay Þanlý’s injury, playing up front alone with Nicolas Anelka circling around him. Both played superbly and were moving around in constant motion to find and make space for the team. Alex de Souza certainly capitalised on that.

Selçuk Þahin, Marco Aurelio and Stephen Appiah are becoming something of a cult in midfield, all helping eachother when pressing for the ball whilst assisting the full backs’ defences of the wings. The trio battled immensely, each winning balls with their own style and quickly releasing it productively to create danger.

PSV’s threats were well studied. Jefferson Farfan was quickly shut down when in possession, while DaMarcus Beasley was blocked to near ineffectivity by the excellent Önder Turacý and Fabio Luciano. As our attacks built up, so did the corner kicks.

Another wicked corner by Alex was handled by Jan Venegoor of Hesselink in the area in a fashion Gomes would be proud of in goal. Referee Manuel Gonzales waited a second to see if Luciano was going to score, but he then pointed to spot, producing a yellow card for the PSV striker. Alex stepped up and stuck the ball into the top right hand corner for his second goal of the tournament so far. With minutes to go to the break the packed Saracoðlu was as jubilant as ever.

Selçuk should have made it 2-0 a minute later, as he broke into the area and had space to think and launch, but his shot was unacceptably wide. However, his ball winning was sound on the night, and it forced Venegoor of Hesselink into man handling him down after he pinched possession from him. He picked up his second booking and the Dutchman marched off to end his nightmare in Kadýköy.

Guus Hiddink now had to account for a one-man shortage at half time - as did Christoph Daum, who was probably seeing a more possible prospect of a second goal early on. Both sides remained unchanged after the break, but PSV’s urge for an equaliser and the gap created by Venegoor of Hesselink’s absence was beginning to show.

Anelka’s supreme confidence in every move combined with his blistering pace was tearing the visitors apart. This was surely to create clear-cut opportunities for more goals in the second half.

It was Alex’s exceptional first time long pass through to Anelka that started the second goal’s move. The Frenchman ran past his marker before entering the area and waiting for the entrances of his team-mates into the danger zone. He looked up and clipped a perfect ball for the oncoming Alex, who headed first time past Gomes; 2-0, 68 minutes gone.

PSV were working extremely hard to make up for their numerical deficit, but our midfield was closing all doors on Philip Cocu, Timmy Simmons and Ibrahim Afellay in the Dutch midfield. Eric Addo endured a torrid time with Ümit Özat frequently bursting forward to provide ammunition.

The fans were virtually playing the game, feeling every pass and sensing the flair before it even happened. As the songs became more celebrative, so did Fenerbahçe’s football of the game itself. Our Brazilian flair began to show - though not just by the star man Alex. Serkan Balcý played a fantastic game both defensively and offensively on the right. He dribbled his way between three PSV players after the second goal, before being brought down as he was preparing to cross.

The mood around the stadium was reflected on the final goal, a true summary of the form we’re currently in. Anelka, Alex and Selçuk combined in a move that had heads turning, with the Brazilian back heeling to Appiah through Selçuk’s dummy for the Ghanaian to score his first goal since signing, and the last of a wonderful evening.

Schalke 04 drew 2-2 at home to AC Milan in the other game of the group, coming back from behind twice to earn their only point so far. PSV follow us in third with the same points after Matchday 2.

Fenerbahçe: Volkan, Luciano, Önder, Serkan, Ümit, Appiah, Aurelio, Selçuk, Nobre, Alex, Anelka.
PSV Eindhoven: Gomes, Alex, Ooijer, Simons, Venegoor of Hesselink, Lucius, Addo, Farfan, Cocu, Affelan, Beasley.
Sent off: Venegoor of Hesselink 44’.
Booked: Ooijer 72’, Aurelio 76’

Daum reflects on solid performance

daumgut001.jpg

Christoph Daum said his team is "constantly improving" as he praised his players, starting with Alex de Souza after the 3-0 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven.

"Alex was perfect tonight. He’s really in the mood for football, and was very successful," said Daum, for the Brazilian, who scored twice and assisted the other, without even looking. Daum continued: "He got in some very clever positions and had some luck, which all players need to score. Our aim was to get three points at home, and we’re very happy to have got them.

"This is an important step for us and gives us a good chance to qualify for the next stage. My players showed good tactical awareness and discipline because when a team has ten players they concentrate more and can sometimes be more dangerous. I want to congratulate all my players because they listened to me. We’re constantly improving and didn’t do the mistakes we did in the final minutes in Milan."

Konyaspor 2-4 Fenerbahçe

konya_fbmanset03.jpg

Four goals in the second half brought us a comeback victory, as Konyaspor were 2-0 up early in the game and maintained their lead until the 72nd minute. Nicolas Anelka and Marcio Nobre scored two each, but Christoph Daum’s decision to put on Mehmet Yozgatlı and Olcan Adın also played a key role in the win.

It may have been fatigue, lack of concentration, or a combination of both that caused a horrid start to the game defensively, as Konya were attacking in numbers and unafraid of committing men forward. Ceyhun Eriş and Murat Hacıoğlu were particularly dangerous and it was their goals that put the home side two up.

Ceyhun picked up El Saka’s pass and bore down on Volkan Demirel to cap a nice move for Konya with a goal in the 17th minute.

Whilst attacking fearlessley, Konya were also defending as a unit and limiting space for our forwards to utilise. However, we took control of the midfield and were trying to break down the home side’s defence, carrying the game to the wings through Ümit Özat and Serkan Balcı.

The defence was guilty of ball watching again in the 30th minute, costing us the second goal. Murat was in enough space to compose himself well to convert the cross to him in the 30th minute in another fast Konya attack.

Alex de Souza, the hero of the PSV Eindhoven triumph on Wednesday, should have done better with a free header in the 40th minute.

Mehmet entered the game in the 52nd minute and was more effective than Serkan Balcı on the right, providing more delivery into the box for Anelka and Nobre.

Fabio Luciano began joining the attack with the second half, nearly scoring in the 69th minute as he headed Alex’s cross just wide.

Controversy struck the game in the 73rd minute, as a Mehmet cross was challenged by Anelka and Konya keeper Özden when the French forward seemed to use his hand to score. Replays showed that Anelka did lift his arm towards the ball, but didn’t connect to it, though he did commit a clear foul on Özden who lost control of the ball and fell to the ground. Referee Özgeç Türkalp, who’d already made some dubious decisions affecting both sides, declared the goal legitimate.

Nobre soon scored the equaliser; a header to the bottom left corner onto Stephen Appiah’s cross in the 77th minute, 2-2. He scored another with another header, this time to the other corner from Alex’s dead ball delivery, taking us 3-2 ahead in a game we dominated throughout.

Konya abandoned their defensive attitude with the equaliser which gave more space for Anelka, doubling the danger he possesses. His dribble into the area resulted in what looked a clear foul in the area, but Türkalp’s earlier decision may have held him back in awarding a penalty. Alex hit the coming ball first time but his shot went straight to the keeper.

A fourth was added when Konya went all out attack. A through ball to Anelka was finished off nicely by the in-form star, killing off the game to complete a comeback worthy of our performances of late.

Venue: Konya Atatürk
Referee: Özgeç Türkalp
Fenerbahçe: Volkan, Luciano, Appiah, Ümit, Nobre, Aurelio, Önder, Alex, Selçuk, Serkan, Anelka

nothing new in turkish football when it comes to fenerbahce.

They used to score with hand. 3 or 4 weeks ago, Nobre scored with hand against Caykur Rizespor. Also, refrees continues to support Fenerbahçe. Now, I can say that Turkish League is in deep shit. If i were president of Turkish Football Federation, I would change Turkcell Super League name as Aziz Yıldırım's Super League. Thats better. Fener is champion from begining of the league and other teams will challenge for to be second or third!

What'a shame for Turkish League! :(

Re: New Fenerbahce Thread !!!!!!!

Also, everyone says that "Anelka's scores same with Maradona's score." This is completly wrong! Maradona's hand was near of his head. So refree cant understand it. But Anelka's hands are near with Konyaspor Keepers hands! Everybody saw that it was not goal! But at Maradona's position, everbody understand from detailed TV replays that it wasnt score!

So dont compare with Maradona's score. Maradona was so clever and Anelka was so stupid. But Turkish refrees gaves a score! Thats why, our league is in shit!

Re: New Fenerbahce Thread !!!!!!!

Which team is leader now? Without loosing matches! So, shut up!

We have only 1 match that you can discuss refree mistakes. But Fenerbahçe has Konya, Rize and Diyarbakir matches. Also, dont forget Gaziantepspor match 4 years later. First half, Gaziantep pumped 3 goals to Fenerbahçe. Then second half, Azize went to Gaziantep Room with suitcase. Do you know what was inside of suitcase? Thousands of dollars. Then second half Fener scored 4 goals. Same with Konya match.

Everyone talking about Fenerbahçe's on TV. But Fener supporters or their owners cant talk. Everybody knows that our League direct by Fenerbahçe's Boss Ms. Azize Yildirim. So continue to be happy.

We will see you in Champions League. Beating this PSV is nothing! PSV lost too many players. Park, van Bommel, Vogel and others that i cant remember their names! So PSV is not same with their last year positing. They are not so good now. Also, we saw Fenerbahçe against Milan. Only scored with penalty.

Hey, you idiot(Massacre_1907) wake up! Dream will gonna finish. Now everybody knows how Fenerbahçe directs Turkish League! But, It will be finish soon, so Fenerbahçe will drown again lastest years. Like we used to see!

;)

Korkak!

Re: New Fenerbahce Thread !!!!!!!

Ankaragücü 2-3 Fenerbahçe
10/26/2005

26102005kupa02.jpg

A winning start to the Turkish Cup campaign against Ankaragücü came through Mehmet Yozgatlı’s double and Nicolas Anelka in the Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium. Mehmet continued his goal rout, starting with a spectacular long shot that rocketed into the top corner.

Christoph Daum had made it obvious he was to rest some of the first team members as the team enters a busy match schedule by leaving Serkan Balcı, Önder Turacı and Stephen Appiah in Istanbul. Though the squad that played was certainly of high class.

Kemal Aslan played in midfield with Selçuk Şahin and Marco Aurelio, reverting to the three-man midfield with a single forward, Anelka, assisted by Alex de Souza behind him. Tuncay Şanlı played on the left wing while Mehmet was on the right. Servet Çetin made his first start of the season at centre back next to Fabio Luciano while Rüştü Reçber was also selected, for the first time since last season’s Galatasaray derby win which got us the title.

Mehmet justified his selection with a cracker in the 28th minute, in contradiction to our sticky performance until then. Ankara weren’t threatening, but our attacks were not as fluid as usual.

Rüştü was called to a critical short range save when İlhan Mansız got a faint touch to a cross just before half time to keep the score at 1-0.

He repeated that in the second half, saving at a one-on-one situation with Umut in the 55th minute. Three minutes later Tuncay tried an overhead kick which bounced off the crossbar for a goal kick.

A move from Ankaragücü’s right wing involving Coridon’s through ball and Niyazi’s pacey cross was completed by Umut, who placed in from close range for Ankara’s equaliser. Their celebrations lasted a short while however, as Mehmet struck a shot which deflected in off Batista in the box, after Kemal had brought the ball into the danger area but lost possession.

Tuncay could have got on the scoresheet and made things easier for his team by scoring a simple goal, as he did well to combine with Alex and get him to a duel with the goalkeeper, Orkun. The Turkish international hit the ball just wide of the right post.

Mehmet’s crossing abilities were on display again tonight, which created danger from oncoming players like Tuncay and Alex. Anelka, in a rough battle with Ankara’s Serdar, was pleased to be picked out well by Mehmet, and did his part by sensing Orkun wasn’t going to be able to collect the ball despite his departure from the goal line. He moved to the left and got a striker’s touch to score from a narrowing angle, 3-1, the clock at 80 minutes.

Evren, playing a dirty game with a diabolical challenge on Mehmet, got away with a yellow card with his stud showing tackle on Aurelio, but got on the scoresheet in the dying seconds of the game, finishing off an attack in the area with a low shot.

Venue: 19 Mayıs
Referees: Mustafa Çulcu , Erhan Sönmez , Serkan Akal
Ankaragücü: Orkun , Emre , Hakan Sedat (Gherieni 63), Zengue (Batista 57), Niyazi , Evren , Coridon , Heverton (Birol 76), Umut , İlhan
Fenerbahçe: Rüştü , Selçuk , Servet , Luciano , Ümit , Mehmet, Aurelio, Kemal (Can 86), Tuncay (Olcan 84), Alex , Anelka (Nobre 83)
Goals: Mehmet 28min+63min, Umut 62min, Anelka 80min, Evren 90+3min
Booked: Sedat 59min, Evren 89min (Ankaragücü) , Kemal 82min (Fenerbahçe)

Daum’s comments on winning start to cup
10/26/2005

10092005daum.jpg

Christoph Daum praised his players for a winning performance amidst a traffic of important matches, as we came out 3-2 winners in a cup encounter with Ankaragücü.

Daum said: "We have a small squad but we can still win consecutive games. We’re trying to do the best with what we have.

"We played youngsters towards the end of the game to give them a chance. Ankaragücü got chances after that. Three points were what mattered."

The boss noted Mehmet Yozgatlı’s recent form, rising with two more goals tonight and an assist for a truly man of the match performance. He said: "Mehmet deserves special praise. As a team we’re doing the best to our abilities and we continue on our way.

"Rüştü also showed us that he’s ready when called upon."

Re: New Fenerbahce Thread !!!!!!!

lol fener is so crap playing road games on CL, no creativity, just hoping for a draw or a lucky break to score a goal, 2 red cards.

but with alex returning, stam picking up a red card, and fener playing milan at home, maybe there is still hope for them to make it to the next round.

Re: New Fenerbahce Thread !!!!!!!

A hope?

Nah, Milan loses against PSV. And maybe that will be their last change. Milan has too many players like Alex. I think, It wont be problem to beat Fenerbahce at Istanbul.

Also red cards are completly correct. Dont need to discuss it. Schalke's players are better, Schalke's supporters are better, Schalke's stadium is better. Everything about Schalke is better than FB. Not suprised that score.
