Five scores 'Football Italia'

LIVE COVERAGE OF SERIE A STARTS THIS SUNDAY ON FIVE AT 1:30PM, SPREAD THE WORD!

sad news is that it looks like Setanta are not showing Serie A this season so no more live Saturday/Sunday evening games. :(

Has the highlights program started yet (have there been any games in Serie A yet)? What day/time is the highlights program on, is it the same time every week?

Live coverage of Italy's Serie A returns to terrestrial TV with Five showing a top game every Sunday afternoon from August 26.

Five will broadcast live action for 34 weeks of the season at 1.30pm (kick-off 2pm) on Sundays and is also showing a weekly half hour preview and highlights magazine programme on Saturday mornings at 11.30am.

There will also be coverage of a second match in Five's late night output.

"Serie A is still one of the strongest Leagues in football with some of the most talented players in the world," said Robert Charles, Controller of Sport for Five.

"The national side are, of course, the current world champions and Milan are Champions League winners.

"We are delighted that our viewers – both terrestrial and on digital – will be able to see some of the top club sides in the world in a truly fantastic League."

Mike Ingram, Director at Inform Group, who brokered the deal on behalf of the rights holder MP&Silva Ltd says: "This agreement reverses the trend of terrestrial broadcasters losing out to Pay-TV.

"Serie A is now the only one of the major European Leagues to have live terrestrial coverage in a major western European market."

With Juventus, Napoli and Genoa back in the top flight, this looks set to be the most exciting Serie A tournament in many a year.

Well the presenter is an utter bellend, and trust Channel 5 to provide a woman co-presenter with more size to her tits than her brain (you'll all love that but I'd prefer more insight into the match personally, if I want porn I'll watch porn).

Presenter: "So is it more tactical in Italy?"
Cudicini: "Well I think it's more even now, with England having more foreign managers."
Presenter: "Do you think it's to do with more foreign managers being in England?"
Cudicini: "Errr..." (he must be thinking, "is my English not as good as I thought?")

What a twat though, they hardly discussed anything of importance, I didn't hear anything on the players from both sides (which is important when this is your first time watching Italian football), and on-top of that he kept repeating questions over and over - I swear to God, I would bet £100 that his auto-cue was stuck and the voice in his ear kept saying "just point to the tits and say she supports AC Milan".

Not struck on the commentary team either, Tony "Who Am I" Jones and John "Please Find Something For Me To Do" Barnes, although it could have been worse.

Thank God the football is exciting!! ;)

I missed the game today, was it broadcast in 16:9?

Hmm yeh, nice eye candy, but its just really tacky picking a supermodel and sticking her in a studio, pretending to talk about football.

Do they really think men are THAT bad? :D

We need Richardson.

For any of you guys in London, go to Bar Italia Uno in Charlotte street near Goodge Street station every weekend and they show like 6 different matches in different rooms through Sky Italy. Atmosphere is a lot of fun and the italian food is quite good. Bear in mind that the people working there seem to only speak Italian.
