Gamepad Help!!

I've been playing PES6 on my laptop with a PS2 pad for quite a while and had no problems with it. Around two days ago the game decided to just not detect my gamepad, i tried restarting my pc, reinstalling the drivers, reinstalling the game but still i get nothing. I tried using the same pad and adapter on my friends laptop and it works fine. Oh and one more thing the laptop does detect the gamepad it lights up and all the buttons work.

Any ideas how i can solve this problem?

Thanks i'll give it a try! Can't download it for another 2 hours and I'm desperately in need of playing
