Greatest Hip-Hop tracks of all time....

Truth!!

I was a true hip hop junkie....

still am I s'pose just not for 99% of the stuff that gets churned out....

Anywayz I see a few Wu listeners and no-one mentioned......

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...

A True Classic!!

Very very true - i went mental when i heard Verbal Intercourse first time. Wu Gambino's is also one of my all time fav's. I love how they sampled John Woo's Killer through the whole album.

Rap/Hip Hop was pretty much the only thing I listened to up until a couple years ago and all throughout junior/high-school.

Now, much like many of you, I don't like most of the cr@p that's put out there. So many people getting in the industry every day with little merits, lack of a proper voice for this, $hitty rhymes and crappy beats but just doing it cuz they got the money to release something and get on TV and hope to get famous and rich.

Nowadays, I only bother with a few rappers. But it's still my fav music genre and what I listen to most.

Ludacris has been my fav for years now and will be for many more I think. Apart from him, there's only a few others I like and respect.

Some real classics in here. I'm not into hip-hop in particular, but I generally listen to a lot of music and I defo agree on the fact that the old stuff is wayyy better than the new in most of the cases. My favorite ones should be Wu-Tang, NaS and some of the old N.W.A. tracks.

erib B & the rakim - don't sweat the technique
ATCQ - scenraio and many more
de la soul - 3 feet and rise high
IAM - ...de la planète Mars
....

All mainstream, well known songs by well known artists. There's been MUCH better songs/artists besides people in the charts you know ;)

Simms, I heard a LOT about Blu and Exile when the advance came out. Waited ages and got the retail, not MASSIVELY impressed. Blu is nice but I didn't like most of Exile's beats really.

I'll add my favourite tracks off my MP3 player, tho I tend to notice good tracks, I never really notice the name as I just have the album play while I do other stuff. Anyway, songs I enjoy which I DO know the name of:

Blu + Exile - Blu Colla Workers
Blue + Exile - Dancing In The Rain
Brother Ali - Truth Is Here
Common - Charms Alarm
Common - Start The Show
Common - The Game
CunninLynguists - Love Aint
Cunnin - Rain
Cunnin - Doin Aight
Cunnin - Old School
Cunnin - Seasons
Extended Famm - FYIRB
Extended Famm - Line Drop
K-Os - Man I Used To Be
Little Brother - Good Clothes, Extrahard, Groupie Pt 2, For You, Speed, Shorty On The Lookout, The Way You Do It, Not Enough, Hiding Place, All For You, Life Of The Party Remix
Madvillain - Accordian
Moka Only - Looking At The Ceiling
Outlandish - Guantanamo, Peelo, Aicha, If Only
Rakim - It's Been A Long Time, Remember That, Guess Who's Back, Stay A While
Talib Kweli - Everything Man
The Roots - What They Do
Tonedeff - Porcelain, Let's Go, Spanish Song
Witchdoctor - Just Like You, Suicide Bomber

That's just what's on my walkman at the moment. Some albums are FULL of great songs, one springing to mind immediately would be Masta Ace - Long Hot Summer ... and Disposable Arts too.

Dags is right, you all listen to commercial hiphop, not REAL hiphop. Check out artists like cLOUDDEAD, Atmosphere and Dead Prez.

Clouddead? Never heard of them, are they like Non-Phixion and Necro? They sound a bit dodgy. Dead Prez I keep away from, pretty racist those guys.

Atmosphere have just released a free album online, Strictly Leakage, it's pretty nice :)

cLOUDDEAD are outstanding but VERY underground and abstract. I was a hiphop and drum & bass DJ for years Dags - I know my stuff. :)

Ahh I'm not really into abstract. Can't really think of the guys I'm thinking of ... album named Bazooka Tooth. And some white guy who's quite popular but does abstract stuff too. They were awful.

I'll look for cLOUDDEAD later on, leave my thoughts in here :)

Edit: Aesop Rock is one of the guys I was thinking of.

And Deltron 3030 is a great album, beats are superb.

Also must mention Immortal Technique's Revolutionary albums, both SUPERB.

Yeah, i've got those two albums, plus Sitting On Chrome.

It's a shame that there aren't to rappers who make creative albums like Masta Ace.

Jay-Z brought out American Gangster, but that was a fucking joke! That wasn't no concept album. I think he shouldn't of came back, The Black Album was a good send off....I think that album was a classic.

Anyways DagsJT you should out productions by these two procducers called 9th Wonder (who i'm guessing you're familar with already) and Khrysis. There part of the Justus League (with LB, Legacy, chandoun and etc.).

This year i'm looking forward to 9th Wonder's Wonder Years and Buckshot's The Formula. Not to sure about any other albums coming out this year. Do you know where i can get some release dates?

Your white, so obviously you won't like what their saying. lol!

I'm not really a fan of Dead Prez to be honest, that super pro black stuff is cool, but doesn't really appeal that much to me. I like some of there songs like Hip-Hop.
