i do nearly all the time but they just dont jump i use x to header is there any other tips

Square to head a shot, Circle to head from defense, X to head a pass...

Add this with liberal use of R2+dir to jostle for the ball. You wont win all, but 50/50 is fair, don't you think. Sometimes when jostling nither palyer may win the ball, both go up and both fall down. Even if you don't win it, just challenging will make the CPU headers less accurate, so you may end up with a turnover on the loose ball.
I depends on your player strength/jump/header attributes.

Shoot button = clearance header from defence / shot header in attack.
Pass button = pass header (not as strong as above).
Done.
