I've just put this rule in place to try and stop those spam threads that have been appearing recently. Hopefully it doesn't affect anyone else negatively but let me know if it does:
New users after verifying their email address get added to the Registered user group. Users in this group will have their posts pre-moderated i.e. one of the staff will need to approve their message(s) before they are shown.
After they have either made 5 approved posts or been registered for 28 days they will get automatically added to the Verified user group. Which just removes the post restriction.
This is similar to what we had before. Please let me know if you see that this is causing issues or not working properly.
One thing to note is that the promotion job runs every hour (not instantaneous) and only picks up users who have logged in recently (i.e. been active in the last 2 hours) so we do have a bunch of long term users who remain in the Registered group only.
