The other day i had a massive disagreement with my mate over which was better a PS3 or an XBOX360. I own a PS3 and i have 3 games for it. The story was i was trying to persuade him that the PS3 is better than the XBox360. He hasn't seen much of the PS3 but sufficient of the 360. (He doesn't have one however).

The conversation was about price and he was saying u can pick up a 360 for about £200-250 and he was saying its not much different to the PS3, he admitted the PS3 might be slightly better. He said with the £400-450 you would pay for a PS3 you could buy reality with that sort of money. Or pay £450 for something which is non reality (Virtual) for a PS3. He ment you could by a car or clothes a bike whatever which is real or buy a PS3 which isn't real if you understand.

It might be hard to understand. 'Cos i read it over and i found it so.

It's a given fact that XBOX 360 is better than PS3
FIFA is better than PES/WE.

Heh, so anyone who says those things is trying to be a wizard and doesn't actually believe them, despite how obvious some of that statement is to a lot of people.

Ah Jack, i've succeeded...i was deliberately sort of provoking you because i want a discussion with you (excuse me...but i couldn't come up with another way).
First of all the way i've put this was deliberately harsh...sorry for that...i was half serious, half joking.
And before i cotinue my reasoning i want to say that i respect everybody's opinion (serious..i am).
BUT...it seems that some people (not specifically you...i can't put names on it besides el diego, but he was never serious was he..)are trying to impose opinions on other people..."if you prefer XBOX 360 to PS3...you are an hardcore gamer, otherwise you are a fanboy" (analogically with FIFA and PES).
Well i'm certainly not an hardcore gamer, i admit to that..i like my occasional sports game however and i've played hours of PES and (much less) FIFA...maybe not being an hardcore gamer it does not matter that i think PES/WE is still miles ahead FIFA (despite the very obvious short comings that you point out...). But what i don't understand is the fact that (almost) every single review by games journalists give higher scores to PES than to FIFA...we Belgians have one strong point, we understand much languages...i can guarantee you that i've read reviews in severals Belgian, Dutch, British, German, French and even Spanish games magazines...almost every single one thought PES is the better game (although FIFA is getting closer)...i respect your opinion but sometimes when i read the rants or the the postings that already are negative for the next version...people can't be serious...when all those game journalists prefer PES to FIFA...why argue??? Are they all biased??? I don't think so...

Mind you, i think i can understand you people, you where massive fans (chose another word if it offends you) and you got dissapointed (i'm dissapointed with the ML too...i wanna see real leagues and more, but i don't care if they have the right boots and hair style for all the players, not even the biggest stars...there is an editing mode...oops...you have played the 360 versin where there isn't...that's a shame...but i think Microsoft is as much to blame for that as Konami...Microsoft wanted too badly to announce that they had the exclusive for next-gen PES in 2006).
And like i said, you bought the right console (i'm persuaded too that XBOX 360 has the better games)..but the one game you love most will (always???) play better on the other one....

How many times do I have to say it before people listen? I don't care whether you play PES or FIFA. But what I do find extremely annoying is (and I've seen it as recently as this morning) when people say "if you like FIFA you are automatically stupid", whereas the people who say that are usually the people who will never try it in fear that if they ever see a FIFA disc in-person it will light up like a thousand suns and turn them gay, which is their worst nightmare in the world. But that's another conservation.

In my opinion, the reviewers are all stuck in their ways. If you're a traditional gamer then PES is great. You push the buttons and you make the passes, regardless of your position, regardless of which way you push, regardless of anything. There's nothing to go wrong, apart from when you play the CPU, in which case you're lucky to string three together.

In FIFA/UEFA, you weight the pass yourself, you have to face the right way, you have full control. Now if you're a casual gamer I can see why that would be daunting, but if you're passionate about the sport and you want the closest thing to it, then I'm sorry, but it is my opinion (and I have no problem with anyone who disagrees, as long as they give a discussion rather than a "FIFA IS GAY LOL") a far more realistic game.

To me, if you break it down, you can button-mash on PES and get away with it. You can just press pass 100 times and every ball is weighted to perfection. That's not what sport is like, that's like a golf game where you press one button and every shot is on the fairway. But it's easier, it's more traditional and so the games reviewers (most of whom are ten years older than me) find that normal, in the same way that breathing is normal, and anything else is just wrong.

From the minute I experimented with the arena in FIFA 07, weighting shots to perfection, I knew I'd never be happy with PES again. If you see how realistic something can be, even if it's incredibly hard to get used to, how could you go back to something that's not? It's like if I play a football game on the hardest mode, I can't go back to anything easier because I feel like I'm cheating myself.

Gameplay is paramount. Yes, I think it's awful that PES has so few teams, and I would love to see my beloved Tranmere in either game, but at the end of the day it's about how real it feels. And I'm sorry but if you gave FIFA/UEFA a fair chance, with an open mind (although if you're stuck in a traditional gaming frame of mind then it's not always possible), then you'll see the depth of the AI, the movement, the ball physics... And how "plastic" PES is.

Say what you want about Seabass being a genius but PES has had the same base for years, EA wrote a totally new next-gen engine and that takes balls. It is totally different from every previous FIFA, and is written as a 100% simulation of the game. It works. The only reason the reviewers don't note this is because they can't get used to the fact that they need to do everything, rather than have everything done for them, and see that as "wrong" and "unnatural", where in-fact they've got used to something totally unrealistic in comparison.

If you played Lego Soccer every few days for five years, you would think it was amazing, and when something revolutionary came along you wouldn't be able to adapt - you wouldn't want to - for a long while.

But I'm glad I've got an open mind because, apart from a poor online mode, I'm very happy with next-gen football.

the forum is all about opinions, it would be a pretty dull place otherwise. Can't comment on UEFA as I've only played it for a couple of Min's but I hope FIFA 08 is more responsive as I still find that to be a big bug bear in 07, that and the menu system.
Maybe jack is right and most people dismiss it out of hand because it's not what they are used to, I quite like playing Fifa for the depth and the fact I can play with my team and not just superstars.. but my mates hate it so it's always back to PES WE when they come round. But I still love SWOS so what the hell do I know....:D
Oh and more on topic anyone paying £400 to £450 for a PS3 needs a reality check, you can pick them up for around £350...

Well, i'm pretty sure that i will buy both games in the fall of this year...i've tried the world cup edition because i was charmed by some of the game modes (and the fact that you could try to qualify with virtually every country in the world...) but i did not like the game play...but maybe i'm prejudiced...
Of course it would be good if there would be a third contender...
 
As people have said in another thread, if 2K Sports decided to join the race then the competition would be fierce and we'd have three constantly-improving football games!

I wonder if Sony are planning to make another This Is Football game on the PS3 as well...
 
Well, i have NBA 2K7 and i really love it...and i much less fanatic about NBA than about football...

For your information: i never said that FIFA was better than PES...i was trying to say the opposite (although i have nothing against FIFA)...maybe you shoud follow a course in comprehensive reading??? I already pointed out that i'm a non native speaker, but the other people who reacted seemed to get my point. If you want to elavate this debate we could always continue this in Dutch which is my native language...
As for me being on this forum: i'm here for quite a while son, i like it here.no need to worry about me...

As for me I played all Fifa and all PE and I keep saying PE is always better than FIFA.
 
The amount of people on this forum who read two words and then write a completely wrong response is rising...

Madrileno, nobody has any idea what the first post was about, but then Gerd wanted to discuss how some people think FIFA is better and yet the reviewers disagree, to which I replied that it's because PES is a traditional game that does all the work for you (if you press pass you get a perfectly weighted pass to a man) whereas in FIFA you have to do everything yourself (direct the pass, weight the pass, make the run), which is actually far more realistic but takes 10+ games to even start to get used to.

That's not saying "PES is shit", so will all the people who think that, and all the people who think it's acceptable to label any game as shit, is totally stupid with a closed mind. Whatever game you prefer, that's fine, but that doesn't mean anyone who plays something different is stupid. If you think that, then you are the stupid one.

We got the point the first time. We didnt get why did you post this under PES Playstation forum? This should go somewhere else, not under specific game forum.
 
By the way, Pressing pass in pes is not always perfect as you several times said. The same relates to centering, shooting etc. So realistics in pes is not so "smoothed" as you mentioned.
 
It is smoothed somewhat, though. If you could switch it off I wouldn't have a problem with it, but in FIFA/UEFA you can switch all the assistance on, or off, which is something PES could have.

Each game can learn from the other though, don't get me wrong. PES is far too automatic for me after playing FIFA/UEFA, but then in the EA games there's still basic errors which grate (such as the through-ball bug, where you press through-pass and it always, always makes it through to a lone striker, which makes the game unplayable online).

This guy is confusing me. first he says that PRO EVO is unplayable after he played FIFA/UEFA than he says that FIFA has a bug in trough balls ( a trough ball is one of the most important actions of a game ) than he says that he was not saying that FIFA is better than PES.

What is this ?????

And passes are not always perfect , they depend on the player attributes of passing and for christ sake we are talking about players who play in italian serie A , the spanish Liga and the english premier league so I DO PRETEND THAT AT LEAST 80% OF THE PASSES ARE GOOD PASSES!
 
The through-ball bug isn't present unless you play online. And whether you're a Premiership team or not, you still have to guide your ball. Your foot doesn't magically touch the ball and then go inch-perfect to the person. You have to judge the power, the direction, the angle, in real life, and you do in FIFA/UEFA as well.

I'm not trying to start a flame-war here, you like what you like, and I like what I like.

In-fact, the thread might as well get locked - it's not actually serving any real purpose and it's gone hopelessly off-topic!
 
As for the point of the thread it makes more sense now DJMajik though the PS3 is still reality in the fact it's a cheap BluRay player as well as a games machine. And as I said you can pick one up allot cheaper than you stated. Madrileno have a good friend in Sliema (I think that's the spelling) nice place..

Jack you a closet baggy? My old man's a Tyke, I gave him a ribbing over the 7-0....:D
