PES 2017 PlayStation & Xbox Discussion Thread

I'm desperate for this game to satisfy me, haven't enjoyed a PES game since 2011.

Lol It was yesterday that I asked if we would have any official news before e3 and here it comes...

I think if Konami were really smart, and if their game really is a very easily notable improvement over the last years game (wich I doubt), they should release 1 week before e3 a video of like 2min highlighting those "new" gameplay features with closed and wide gameplay angle/camera and then, at e3, they would publish the extended version of it showimg more gameplay bits and info about different modes and any new official licensed acquires (if theres any).

I like those weird names of gameplay features like "control reality". It might be just marketing bullshit in the end, but at least it represents a reponse from them that they are really determined to improve thing we've been asking for years as goalkeepers.

I'll give their new website a read even tho I know there are a lot of PR bullshit and buzzwords.

If you really havent enjoyed PES2015/2016, I doubt Pes 2017 will do it for you my friend. But who knows... I can be wrong.

U have to be creative if u want to sell the same stuff every year.
Well, the M.A.S.S. system in PES 2014 (talking about fancy names) was pretty impressive if you ask me, despite the fancy "this is going to be 100% marketing" name.
But you got the point: when improvements are small (not saying PES 2017 is the case, mind you), marketing needs to make them look big anyway.

The description of "real touch" feature and the image below it makes me think we will see some weird animations..

"Precise pass"

The name of this feature kinda worries me, its as if passing wasnt accurate enough already...

It says many factors determine the speed and accuracy of the ball. Does that mean that the game will finally simulate contextual erros like when ball is bouncing fast, its harder to hit an accurate first time pass ? Will angle, balance, pressure, chosen footside affect pass speed and accuracy ? Will the passing bar Really capture the sensitivity of passing power ? Im not very optimistic about it, specially when their focus clearly has been the MyClub full of kids that dont give a shit about gameplay realism.

Natural Player MovementHundreds of new animations have been added to bring the players and goalkeepers to life – but it doesn’t stop there. New features such as Real Touch and Precise Pass see huge benefit, giving a vast array of movements when trapping and passing the ball.

I like this...

Another thing to note: that body scam tech is really something for the future... Not PES 2017 future but Pes 2022 future lol...

Unless only Neymar has that body scam in pes 2017.

It might just be me, but that site has some of the most awkwardly put together sentences I've read in a while. It's like somebody has used Google Translate to change them to English.

It's not a good start when the press release isn't written properly.

Wow, well this popped out of nowhere. Sounds promising but as always, I'll try to withhold my excitement. From the pics it seems that we still won't have kit physics

Finally it's always the same stadium, you can see allianz (look like ?) advert in the raining game too and same entries on the corners, definitly new Konami stadium or Allianz Parque of Sao Paulo.

day light on the corner, big naming in bleu (red in the game), Allianz adverts and same structure
Allianz_Parque.jpg

Seems legit! :)

Cool! :)

I gave good hope for pes 2017 ,liked pes 2015 & 2016 a lot ,but they need improvement on many levels.
What the pes 2017 anouncement seems to promise ,is most of what i wanted ,but also shooting need less power ,more variation ,and ai needs more variation in scoring goals .
Sharing optionfiles is also very important, much more options in editmode needed.
That they try to give less important players a more realistic look and stats by involving people from pes community is also promising .
I am hyped for pes 2017 , as long as they give enough resources to the development of pes games its all good for me .

It looks promising, and it also sounds so.
Adaptive AI leaves me a little "meh", but still faithful in the end.

  • If it's something like "the AI team adapts to the way the human plays (so, for example, if they see you parking the bus they stop trying to break into your defence and start bombing you from outside)" it's something great.
  • If it's just rubberbanding, no thanks.

On the first part, it should depend on the manager/team. Pep's Barca would very rarely bomb the box, if ever, against bus parking, they still tried to break it down. It shouldn't be a simple if then thing, it should be dependent on the manager and his mentality on how to approach the game, the players at his disposal and the team he is managing (at Barca, purposefully parking the bus would get you fired probably).

After 9 years I can quietly watch the hypetrain departure from a healthy distance. I have my football game fix with fifa 16.
So I really do not care what this amaturish company is trying to say. Adaptive AI was already sold on PES 2008 aka Teamvision. One of the worst football game ever.

And this English they are using in the press release.. Is it for real? I thought the global brand manager would had an influence on the press release wording..

Do you really think that this company with these 2 community "specialist" can deliver a decent game on half the budget of last year..

Dream on.

I prey that they loose th CL license and go down the toilet of slutmachines..and EA or another sports game company with ambition get it.

Do not misunderstand me, I wish all the best for PES and my fellow Hungarian working for PES, but sorry the only thing I felt while reading the press release was disgust. I have read the same shit 9 times in 9 years.

If it will be good, I will buy it, but all my instincts are saying to me, that Nothing will change.

Sorry for the rant.

Cheers

So much drama. I think there really is no need to say this.

Funny thing that the majority of it was already in PES 5, and Fifa has it all now.. And we are speculating if they will implent it in PES 2017 :)

No mention of shooting improvements. I pray that it's VASTLY improved as I find very little satisfaction in scoring/shooting in PES 2016. Hopefully the added animations, and features like "Real Touch" will have an impact. I'm not optimistic.

True game changer in the sports genre. Quick example: pass to a star player often, AI will double up on him!

So you can dribble trough the midfield with Mertesacker meanwhile more easily than ever!

It does indeed depend on a lot of factors like whether or not the defensive AI is as useless as it is in 2016. That, and I wonder under what conditions will the AI begin to double, or triple team? Is it just a case of a player receiving X amount of passes? Does it factor in their rating? Their in game performance (goals, assists, passing, dribbling completion)? I mean, a player might receive the lion's share of the ball, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're doing anything productive with it. I'll be curious to see how this pans out as it's an interesting feature.

I hope this A.I. isn't exploitable. My fear is It's like if you are playing with Barca and you keep passing the ball to Messi out wide and after a few minutes the A.I. brings an extra defender over to him does that mean massive holes in the defense now open up that can get exploited by quickly passing the ball around? It would then become an exploitable strategy to keep passing the ball the one player so an extra man comes over and now the defense is out of position if you move the ball quick enough.

I agree this could be highlights of ANY PES game. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, three, four, five times....
This all sounds like a little improvement over 2016. If they at least fix the game breaking issues Im hoping the game can be playable. But for now will hold judgement until E3 videos but most of all the Demo. I really hope they dont fix something - break 2 other things.

PS: Can someone please give Adam a Thesaurus? He is running out of synonyms in his twitter.. "Amazing! Awesome! Improvement! Kazzam! Bow! Wow! Much happy"

It's true that saying "Our refs work now" is embarrassing but it's necessary.
They can always PR it up... "Next generation refereeing powered by the fox engine, making the beautiful game more beautiful than ever... but fair"
Bhatti saying it's completely redone, worries me because his job is damage control.

The other necessary thing is a new FK system, if I see those dam stupid dots one more time, I'm gonna puke. Plus penalties are broken.
