PES 2020 Rumours Discussion Thread

I wonder if you need (expensive) licenses for players that are not under contract of a club anymore and the historic shirts etc. If not I would wish Konami to add a retro mode with complete leagues and tourneys from the 70's, 80's and 90's. They could use this mode to cater for people that like a more technique focused game with slower players and pitches. For me it would put back some soul in the game again, I just miss Konami from the old days that would just passionately do their own thing; football first, then the rest.
This is a great idea.

In terms of individuality, Konami have to get back to its roots. Keep things more simple. I mean, CPU players only have to be bad, average, good and very good on their roles. Players dont have to do exactly what they do on real life. This is a waste of time.
Plus, this will end this scripting bs. Teams will reflect only the talents that is on the field. Nowdays, you can edit all the squads, put 11 low rated players on Barça ie, but CPU still be able to play like barça. I blame this on this Team ID script BS.

This game needs individuality rethinked, both on how single players are portrayed and as teams playstyle level; a plausible way to challenge the player instead of the unrealistic, cheap crap we have now and variety in more fundamentals, like shooting, passing and so on.

This 1000% and the ping-pong pace has to be eliminated.

I disagree.
I think PES 2020 might be a good game.
History tells us that the last PES of each current generation is when it reaches its peak.

PES 6 and 2013 are far from "peak" level. The hype train for those games is only due to their ease of customization (both on PC and console)+ fun factor and has blinded people for years.

There is no way on earth i am buying this day one. It sat on the shelf last year for 8 weeks after release due to the dreadful AI which seemed to be OK until the feb patch and its dreadful again. Its so boring

For once I would like to relieve past glorious tournaments such as France 1998 and Euro 2000 (and why not, the road to these tournaments). Bring back old Wembley, Highbury, De Kuip, Stade Roi Baudouin, Stadio Olimpico di Roma, Delle Alpi, etc. Historic scenario challenges like in old ISS would also be welcome:

I didn't remember this, but on International Superstar Soccer 2000 (Game released in July 1999) there is a scenario mode match with a bold prediction for what actually happened in real life two months later.

Fifa has taken a step towards something similar to a retro mode:

Looked decent til the gameplay started.

Something like this probably doesn't fit well with the robot players of FIFA whereas the fluidity of PES could potentially do a better job.

But EA show initiative whilst konami don't. Ah well.

*Penalty specialist.
Usefull on Pes 19...
Kinda like the martial arts you learn in case you get fuckin robbed or somethin..
Still more likely to happen than winning a penalty in Pes 19 vs cpu i guess.lol
At least online which i play you win some.Let's not forget that they talk mostly about online's gameplay when they mention stuff.
This is what the vast majority is playing. But yeah it's ridiculous that they're almost non existent in offline.
They should really address this for 20.There are already normal fouls in game and it has improved in that aspect from last year so there's no reason why some of these fouls wouldn't be penalties also.

There used to be "Mentality" stat in pre-PS3 era ... players with high Mentality were more likely to perform well even when they were very low on stamina.
I think this is part of the Fighting Spirit ability now.
It says in the description that the player will still perform good under pressure and low stamina.

Yeah we had very few on 17 ,none on 18 and none on 19 either
Offline that is,I know when we discuss here we tend to say "here's how it is" meaning offline really, you guys who play online gets showed away a bit, sorry for that.
I've probably been in more fights than I had penalties on Pes the past year.
And I'm not a fighter!

Pakistan 1&2 devision league will be good for ML players. Maybe Konami add it in Pes 2020. Who knows. We have to wait for announcement.
lol..good one..
Oh wait..you were serious..?

Jokes aside,we may make fun and say ''who cares?'' when they update Chinese and Thai leagues but let's not forget that these are enormous countries with billions and tens-houndreds millions of people. So if they add Pakistan or Indian league also, that's also enormous countries with millions of potentially new customers. So when you ask ''who cares?'' the answer is ''they care!''
They're still a multi-millionaire company and i think they take decisions for a reason.
Shit,i bet that two of these countries could make the same if not more sales than the whole of Europe.
Cause we know that the vast majority of Europe get Fifa instead.

Mental is a new thing?
Shit,i'm going mental and start hitting the mattress nearly every time i'm playing this fuckin game online.lol
To be fair this is the case with nearly every game no matter how it's called especially when you go online.
Still like playing it.But not for many hours straight.Too much stress.:SMOKIN:

At least ,since they bother to update Thai League, they could also make it available for League/Master League :) (said it for 1000 times this year)

Lol yeah i started to believe that you really love your daily dose of Thai football.:D
Yeah that's just typical Konami.
Doing something to attract new customers and then shoot themselves in the foot.
Same as with Celtic and Rangers fans, but that's even worse that it can be only played in exhibition.
I think they added Thai league later in the year so maybe that was the issue for some reason.
Next year if it's in from the beggining then it won't be an issue i guess.
Unless they're just completelly trolling the Thais for some Konamish reason lol.
They always have these stupid limitations for things.
Like, why can't we have as many leagues as we want but they have to remove some d2 for space??
Why can't we have more than 1 gk outfits? Why only 30 gloves and not more?
Their editing and having stuff limitations and capabilities sucks.
On the other hand,i'm not a programmer and i don't know about these things, but i don't know for sure if these are genuine limitations or they're just lazy. But Japanese in general are known as hard working people and not lazy.
So maybe it's because the whole dev team are seriously understaffed and being given very small budget to work with.
Eitherway they really have to fix these limitation issues, especially for a game that depends heavily on modding and content to survive, and they know it.
I'm affraid that maybe these are engine related limitations and we won't see big expansions and improvements until a new better next gen engine arrives.

It has not to do with the Country (Thailand) so much as with they way of KONAMI. you describe. Excluding people from Thailand play with their teams a season, not informing us by replying to people that ask them about the situation in social media, while in the same time they put so much effort, Thai clubs have extremely accurate rosters for KONAMI standards. Also the THAI clubs have 3rd or 4th kits while teams in Ligue 1 or Serie A have only 2!
And in the meantime, i have tried all these small league kits in myClub team as a Tribute, (i change two per week from Thai,China,Colombia which i find well-made and funky), i noticed that the kits in Danish Liga and Russian liga for the less known clubs are extremely half-arsed, they seem to been created in the PES 4 edit mode, only one or two colored kits with the team Emblem and the kit manufacturer logo (nike, adidas etc.) Everything seems like bad organized or wasted efforts.

The game has been stale and pretty much the same on this gen (2014 through 2019). Scripting, ping-pong pace is worse each year, and the excessive focus on team and stadium licenses is taking away from what once made this franchise great: focus on gameplay and the representation of the sport. I don't have high hopes for 2020 (same engine), but something has to radically change for 2021.

Remember when Adam would chant the matra "Gameplay gameplay gameplay" when people made requests for more stadiums, licensed teams now he is reduced to posting player faces with love heart eyes emoji's

I have no faith 2020 will be any better they will follow the fifa model fix one thing break 2 others and promise to fix that in 2021 the real excitement is trying to guess what they will remove I wouldn't even play it if it wasn't for the incredible modding community

Exactly. 2020 will be a rinse and repeat job. I'm more interested in the PR angle Konami will take than the actual game itself. If ML and offline gameplay will get any attention whatsoever I would be utterly shocked. Even if it does get it we know by now it'll be patched out eventually. The game should just be called myclub moving forward . Why not? That's all it is really. I'm especially interested in how they're going to spin the "3 year plan" nonsense this time.

Sycophants never improve anything. They offer nothing positive long term only self gratification and insecurity. That’s Konami.

Guys, Adam contract could be expiring after PES 2020 for all we know.
Look at Seabass. One day he was in charge and BOOM! Gone the next.

And what I mean by this is, Adam and the rest of the team need to do the best for every version of the game.
They can't speculate with "well since we're changing the engine next year, this year is a lost case".

I hope Konami pays attention to ML youths regeneration, team placement and transfers soon. I started a new season few days ago and had so many good players in a youth squad I had to sign so many of them and then release them and then make sure to attempt to sign them to trigger some random club to sign them to their team. Happens often -.-

1) Around October last year, there was a Facebook page sharing that Konami was in contact with the Hong Kong Football Association for the license of Hong Kong Premier League. (I think it's a league most of you are not interested in.) But AFAIK it will be very unlikely to include HK League in PES 2020.

2) The logo of Konami is included in the interviewing backdrop of AFC Champions League this year (I mean the 2019 season), so I expect "AFC Champions League 2019" will be included in PES 2020.

3) Konami and some other Japanese game companies are interested in e-sports currently. As known publicly, there will be a national e-sports competition in Japan this year. (Official website: http://culture-ibaraki.jp/esports2019/).

E-sports is the main reason for including the Thai League in PES 2019 as some guys are helping them on building an e-sports competition for Thai League using PES.

This business model may be used again to acquire other East Asian leagues or South East Asian leagues. If you had filled in the recent official questionnaire about PES, you should have seen a lot of ASEAN leagues included on the list.
