PES 2020 Tactics Discussion & Real Teams Thread

Do you mean you find the actually football boring?
That's definitely been my problem for a few years now...

I support liverpool and our football is dire, so lacking in style and composure, so turgid, so built on physical attributes I've completely lost interest in us winning the league, despite wanting it desperately for 30 odd years.
I'd even go so far as to say that from the point of view of watchability, we will be one of the worst teams to win the league in living memory. And I.include Mourinho Chelsea teams in that assessment.
We're dreadful and its emblematic of football around europe i think...

Yes, 100% I agree. Actual real life football is putting me off, i really like this game, but it's my entire interest in the sport is waning.

I'm an Arsenal fan, the less said about our season the better but its the douche culture around my club i cannot stand anymore. I will love Arsenal forever but I don't really like many of the players we have, they are mostly douches themselves who enjoy the Instagram attention and lifestyle and we have many players who overrate themselves, hence why we are 9th.

As for the game globally. The sad thing but most powerful thing about what you wrote about your team Liverpool is that for me they are clearly the worlds best! Football really is that dire right now and it will only get worse year after year!!! Apart from you guys in regards to elite teams you have:

City who are inconsistent since defensively they are poor!

Barca have been rubbish and dreadful to watch all season, Valverde bored everyone with his functional tiki taka, now Setien is boring everyone with his 1000 passes no end product unless Messi wins the game by himself.

Madrid are inconsistent and have too many players and no fluency. The player like strangers when the opposition doesn't roll over infront of them.

Bayern are also inconsistent and have dropped in quality since Ribery and Robben dropped off in ability and left last year.

Juventus i don't find entertaining side, Inter have improved under Conte but again like Juve are a functional side to watch. It's the quality of the players in regards to these teams, the new generation are rubbish, they aren't even close to what we say 15-20 years ago. Young players are heavily overhyped and haven't brought much or anything new to the game at all. These teams are still relying heavily on the last batch of the older generation who are near the cliff in terms of their careers at the top level.

Lazio play some good stuff but they are NOT a top side whatsoever. The other team to mention is PSG but honestly they should just rename their club to 'the real husbands of Paris' they way half their team behaves.

The most entertaining teams for me has by a long distance have been Atalanta and Real Sociedad, after that probably Dortmund on a good day. I respect Getafe but they are horrible to watch. All hard work, little real quality. The fact they are 3rd in La liga, like an average Leicester side 3rd in the EPL just sums up how bad modern football is. Very little true entertainment and freeform creativity anywhere. The game is too much about being an athlete.

Lastly as you can tell already and you will see in the latest update, too many teams play the same way these days. The game has almost completely lost the street football, freeform element. I find it so hard to pick a team I enjoy playing with.

In many ways your response was music to my ears. I'm constantly telling people about my thoughts on this but we live in a world where people respond with cliches and aphorisms which makes me think why bother.

Football is entertainment, glory, emotion. Winning is absolutely NOT everything. I learned that when I sat stoney faced as we won the champions league against spurs in what can only be described as 90 minutes of moral cowardice. I constantly forget we are the holders this season, it means nothing to me. Especially next to instanbul 2005 where I was on cloud 9 for about a month because of the gory of it. (And incidentally how good was that Milan team? Imagine if a team with that kind of soft-touch, rhythmic intricate football existed now? )

I've learned it this year as we won 26 out of 27 and I've never felt so disconnected from my team in my life.

Everything is pace and power and collectivised system. Which is basically death in terms of entertainment. Ajax were such an anomaly last season. This years champs league has reverted to type.

I think I dislike my liverpool team. Actively dislike it to the point I almost want it to fail because otherwise success will perpetuate this abandonment of both liverpool's ways of playing and klopps own principles. And I agree its depressing that we can barely string coherent flowing attacking moves together yet be the best in the world.

Theres this principle, I cant remember the name. How when things change iteratively over time, we dont actually notice what's been lost because it happened so gradually. That to me is football. People notice that they are strangely bored when watching football but cant always see why.

But if you watch sky's programmes where they show all the goals from previous seasons, if you go back to your incredible arsenal team of Vieira, pires, Henry, hell even the van Persie hleb rosicky team, it looks like a different sport. You see goals you never see now, even types of curl on passes you dont see any more. You see pause and tempo and rhythm...

And completely feel you on finding a pes team to play with. Your tactics as I've said before are like voodoo but its still hard to find a team with enough unique players or a playing style you can latch onto.

I remember pes 5 with Tristan and manual pablo and Alberto and valeron. I remember Valencia with aimar and villa and aurelio (god I loved him at liverpool) and baraja. And betis. And Lyon with juninho. And Parma with crespo and veron. And Lazio etc etc.

One final thought. I remember years ago when Luis Enrique's team with MSN won the treble and everyone was raving. On revista de la liga, Guilleme balague was the dissenting voice. He said they were betraying Barca principles, that there was no philosophy, it was just get the ball forward to the front three. That eventually that wouldnt work, neymar would leave and Barca would be left with nothing, just an empty team playing around messi without any sense of aiming for something more. That eventually Barca would adopt a way of playing that just got you a result, like everybody else and it would all be for nothing in the end. Just winning was pointless. Anyone can win.

Beautiful post, straight from the heart. Almost as if i wrote it myself. I know its hard these days to peak to people about these things, especially in the mainstream and on reddit, facebook twitter especially.

The gradual decline bit was the best part, its something i speak a lot about, its gradual decline started actually around 2007 when they changed the tacking laws, making them too strict and has killed proper defending. This has sadly evolved into the touch rugby like pressure fests we see the game is today, you have generic players like Mustafi who is supposed to be a center back as his prime position but he can do everything well including has good technique apart from his main fucking job which is to defend (I know hes played well last month or so but he's a terrible defender in general). pre 2007 teams where actually allowed to make a few fouls before receiving a yellow, since its a 'contact' sport but honestly looking at that Vidal 2 bookings nonsense last Tuesday vs Napoli, the game has evolved into instead of tacking, you pressure the opposition into mistakes. I fucking hate seeing goals every week where the goalkeeper or defender screws up passing out the back for an easy goal, happens way, way, way too much like Isco's goal vs City this week.

In big matches teams don't even win matches through quality play or a true amazing comeback like you mentioned with Liverpool vs Milan in that epic match in 2005, its huge bottlefests like Barca vs Liverpool last year who cant take the pressure. In America they call these games 'blowout' where one team just squashes the other. it was sad to watch at 4-0 Barca like cowards all panic and literally refuse to even shoot, instead they all looked and passes to Messi to 'save them'. I though Barca where embarrassing that day, truly embarrassing and adds to your point regarding MSN and overhyping that team which was a good team which heavily relied on its front 3. That 2015 Champions League winning team was really about extracting the last from Xavi and the last of a peak consistent Iniesta. that Barca team last year was all Messi with a bit of Suarez and every other outfield else was just a very good player at best. So sad, remember the days where Barca didn't rely on just one player?

It goes back to my point about how poor the next generation have been. there is no new Messi, CR7, Iniesta, Zlatan, hell there is no new Riquelme, Aimar even or specialists like Juninho! This concerns me, things are only getting worse. I think now is the time people like us looked at new solutions for us who still deeply love the game. New types of leagues and teams which rules to allow free flowing football. The only shakeup we will see in football is when one of if not both Messi and CR7 retire and then the world will finally wake up to the degradation of he rest of the game in quality beneath them.

I would like this next update to be the last and maybe just focus on classic teams and i'll do the euros as they come in. First i'm going to show you some Everton League mode from last year full matches and get all your feedback

So I got it to work, I'm writing a short tutorial for anyone else wanting to import Klashman tactics since the tutorial provided is quite messy. I'm hoping this is clearer.

You need 2 files.
1. Klashman's tactics file END OF YEAR 2019/2020 HERE!
2. Zlac's tool 2020 Link (will now on call it Zlacs since the original name for the tool is very long)

Steps to get it to work

1. Extract both zip files
2. Get your own Pes 2020 save EDIT00000000 file from ...My Documents/Konami/EfootballPes2020/76561198038014628/save folder
3. Copy the EDIT00000000 file to Zlacs/importer
4. Copy all files inside Klashman's file/2nd version of tactics folder (lots of files) and paste them to Zlacs/importer/import folder
5. Copy Klashman's id_list.txt and paste it to Zlac's/importer (overwrite Zlac's id_list.txt)
6. Go to Zlac's/importer and run tactics_importer.exe
7. EDIT00000000_encrypted is created
8. Rename EDIT00000000_encrypted to EDIT00000000 and place it in your save folder My Documents/Konami/EfootballPes2020/76561198038014628/save folder

Perfect, thanks for doing this, I was just going to try to do this to my edit file but wasn’t sure what to do.

Would be great if somebody could take screenshots of the Klahsman's tactics on PC so we could manually enter them on the PS4

you can download it from klashmans site, its a pdf file, load it on your mobile phone and put it manually on you ps4

No; those are the old ones. The ones available now on PC are the updated ones which are not on .pdf yet, that's why I mentioned if somebody could take pics of the PC ones for the rest of us.

It would be great to find a way that the stats of players dont get so low just because they are in a wrong position. I have alaba and the new left back of bayern both playing at 70 which is criminal. Any solution other then changing their positions ? Im using evoweb with klashman.

Their stats don't actually get lower. It just shows that overall they don't know how to play that position. For example if they get to cross the ball it will be just as accurate. But they will be mispositioned much more. Why would you want to do away with an actually realistic aspect of the game?

I've just bought the game. My first PES in 5 years.

I like it, I think, but really struggling to build attacks with my 41212 formation.

Players aren't making runs, my AM is not getting in good positions, my two CMs keep going too wide and I seem to be limited to playing wide and scoring from crosses with my overlapping FBs. When I get bored and try to go through the middle (with the through the Middle tactical setting) I can't seem to create any chances.

So I have quite a few questions:

How do the fluid formations work?

I get how they work but I am confused by the Default one. Does your team ever play this or do they just move between the In and Out of Possession formations?

What is the best way of setting up Support to get my players to make some decent runs?

Is there any way of getting my strikers to switch occasionally to mix things up a bit?

The default/kickoff version of fluid formations doesn't actually matter, it literally is just for kickoff. It may be there just to prevent against easy kickoff goals online, so if that happens against your formation you can place everyone on defense in kickoffs.

You seem to be playing a diamond formation, I've played it quite a lot. In fluid formations set your wide players as wingers far up the field when you have possession on the ball and drop them as midfielders when you don't.

Also, making runs depends a lot on the players you have. Players with "Roaming flank" tend to just chill out on the wings and provide support. Profilic Wingers tend to go forward more.

If you want your strikers to drop and mix up a bit more set the Attacking Instructions for False 9. And make sure your attacking formation is Flexible.

Your AM not getting into good positions is probably just because he's bad. Stats don't mean that much honestly, if someone's playing bad on the team try playing a lower rated player on that position and see if he gets results. Usually works for me.

Also, generally the higher your support the more runs will be made. Why would someone be making a run when everyone is so close to each other you can just play the ball on the foot?

Thanks SirConnery

I have started to figure it out. I found dropping my Support to about 3 or 4 meant players came to the ball more. On Fluid formations I've just got a really slight adjustment between In and Out of Possession with just my strikers switching and my LCM and RCM moving ever so slightly - Out of Possession my LCM is more attacking and In Possession my RCM is more attacking with my AM moving slightly to left and right to give a different emphasis.

It's actually working really well by getting the players to make little adjustments to free up space.

I only play Offline. I'm starting to find Professional a little too easy so will be moving up soon. I'm so glad I went back to PES. This is so much fun.

There is one niggling issue however and that is a lack of free kicks and, especially, penalties. It was the reason I quit PES. I do need penalties in a game. I know if I learn dribbling techniques I can entice players to foul me but there's been plenty of opportunities for the ref to award fouls in the box but he hasn't done so because apparently that makes the game more "challenging".

I'm having somewhat enough free kicks, averaging around 3-5 per game (playing 14 min games). although the refereeing is very inconsistent to put it politely. Penalties, yeah almost nothing gets whistled, even clear fouls, although I've had 2 pens in my 17 games this season.

The worst thing about the game though is the abysmal shooting. It's just bad in so many ways. I don't think I've ever seen a football game past Pes 2 where tackling and ripping the attacker does absolutely nothing to his shot accuracy and power. Players can just boom the ball to the upper 90 with two defenders grabbing onto them.

Hi there, if I was to install the old PS4 tactic files as posted, would they also overwrite the squad updates and players updates etc?

long but CPU VS CPU tactics Super Cup match with the two borussias!

Good or Bad? Btw this was using a earlier gameplay version from last year, maybe version 1.01 or 1.02 so if i do more a number of errors will have been fixed already.

will you update tactics for national teams this year?

I think i may do, since i have some time with this quarantine now. First upload lots of videos showcasing certain tactics.

I'm using Brave, I can test them using chrome or edge, i haven't used firefox in years. :(

If you download the LBRY desktop app or mobile app it loads best on that, through the browser i guess it depends on how active your PC is with the site.

I will embed these on my site so watching them on there will be should be a good mirror.

i suggest you to eliminate the COM playing styles " long ball expert " to each centre back. This style is terrible, that force the CPU player to launch long ball despite having free teammates near him .
I prefer also to eliminate this style for alla the CPU players, not only for the centre back.

( sorry for my english :)))

Hmm, i'd say it depends on the player, some center backs like van Dijk love a long pass from the back.

legend mate it simple instructions

one extra tip id give is when you reload the game it will ask you to update squads when loading the edit file untick these or it reverts them to the standard tactic

@klashman69 - As per the poster above, I'm operating on a PS4, therefore, I can't see the formation settings for the End of Year tactics. Do you perhaps have a PDF of the main leagues' teams so I can get to manually setting the formations up?

Thanks
