'Internet porn a growing problem for players'

Addiction to internet pornography is a growing problem among cash-rich Premiership players with time on their hands according to Peter Kay, the chief executive of the Sporting Chance clinic.
Sporting Chance has been assisting sportsmen and women with addictive illnesses since its foundation in 2000. Kay revealed that while there have been high-profile cases of gambling, drink and drug problems among professional footballers, an increasing number are now switching on their laptops and accessing pornographic websites to fill their time between playing matches and training. 'When you start going into a porn site it leads on to other porn sites and then maybe more risky material,' Kay told BBC Radio Five Live. 'It must be stressed that if a 21-year-old is scanning a bit of porn and accessing pleasure from it, doing that once then that is not unusual and nor is it a problem. 'It becomes a problem when he is doing it 14, 15, 16 times and then when he stops, he is playing a football game and he is thinking `I can't wait to get back to that site'.' Five Live also interviewed an unnamed Premiership player who admitted how he had fallen foul of internet sites offering thrills of one description or another. 'You can get hooked on anything, going on one site for two minutes isn't enough,' he said. 'You don't realise how much you're spending until you see it on your bill at the end of the month. 'On porn websites you have got advertisements for the porn and you end up spending more money on there. It's kind of like kids in a sweet shop. 'We finish at lunchtimes with our jobs and you can sit there for hours on end.'

Indeed. Alot more style and civilized then traitors who betray their support once trophies start to dry up, who then start taking digs at true fans.

By which reply you kindly prove my point....thank you very much.
If people like you are true fans then football is in dire straits. Poor Man Utd.
But don't wory soon you will get help by Einstein himself i suppose.

Your a waste. Its people like you that give fans a bad name. You have no loyalty to nothing except spilling nonsensical hatred against all United supporters. Your nothing more than a treacherous mongrel.

How do you know that i have "a nonsensical hatred" against all united supporters???? Ask Csaunders or Vann how much i hate them...
It seems to me that the one who has a hatred (against everything Chelsea) is you, not me...

Your language is also rather ridiculous " a treacherous mongrel"...Jesus...it's only football isn't it??? Judged by your fanatical language i should feel like some sort of Quisling during WWII. Somehow i think this analogy is wasted on you.

And speaking about giving fans a bad name...let's analyze your average posting (who indeed is full of prejudices and hatred) and mine...i'm pretty confident my postings are quite positive compared to your foul language and bad taste. But you really haven't got a clue, do you...

Well picking fights with me for no apparent reason. Having seen you in past use similar tactics against RuneEgde and others in the United thread leads me to believe you have something against us loyal fans.

Well I don'y think calling you treacherous is fanantic. Did you not quit supporting Man Utd for silly reasons then have ago at us for not following yourself?

You can anaylze my posts all you like. You will only find many people agreeing with my points. People understand I speak the truth 95% of the time. Maybe sometime my emotions come in place and I can use foul language ocassionally , but who does not swear? Oh but I forget your Saint Paul aren't you. If you want to be a petty fault finding attention seeking traitor, then at least you can do is refrain from using 'Jesus's name in vain as it is blasphemy. It makes it hypocrisy calling up others on their language and bad taste' when yours is no better.

I didnt think youwould have anything to say ater putting you in your place amougst all the other trouble making mongrels. Someone had to knock you off your high horse. Got to admit though, I thought you would have a better pitiful reply than a spastic nervous giggle about how foolish you are.

Come on man...don't you think that i become tired of these useless discussions.
Some Man Utd fans just refuse to understand me.

One "last" attempt.
You say that i have become "a traitor" because trophees are starting to dry up (by the way intresting point: that's what i've been saying for a couple of years now and i'm loathed for it...now oneof the hardcore concedes it...big mistake). I became a fan in a period where Man Utd haven't won anything in years and years...long before Ferguson became manager. As a matter of fact as a young boy i became a fan when United were relegated...My heroes were players like: Mc Illroy, Gordon Mc Queen, Remi Moses, Steve Copell, Bryan Robson, Paul Ince, Mc Grath, Jesper Olsen, Norman Whiteside...players who scarcely won anything except playing an odd FA Cup Final or League Cup Final and maybe even win one or two of these finals.
One of the reasons i became disappointed in Man Utd was that the season after the treble they choose not to play the FA Cup for some stupid world cup for clubs in Brazil (where they were thrashed). A club with a rich tradition like Man Utd should show some respect for traditions...instead they made a choice for money...now look at a club like Barcelona who is a club that shows some respect for traditions: still they have great teams and win silverware (more than Utd).
I'm an old fashioned football fan and i want my clubs win fair and square and show some respect for football's traditions (if you really want to know what i mean, read "The beautiful game" by David Conn...).
Maybe it's age...i can understand that younger people disagree, but it's alitle bit easy to say that i hate Man Utd (i don't, in fact i still have a lot of sympathy for them) or their fans ( i don't like fanatical people who refuse to listen to arguments ands are not critical...clubs need critical fans...that's what will be the end of Chelsea after Roma get's tired).
i hope you understand my point of view.
Normally it would be better to have this sort of discussion in the Man Utd thread but some people (like you and RuneEdge) will lynch me virtually if i say these things.

By the way, as a football fan i enjoyed Man Utd performance against Bolton...which will surprise you.

well with sarcastic comments such as 'Manchester United fans really are extremely civilized people with style aren't they???' I can understand how some fail to understand you. You shed an air of arrogance in the way you conduct yourself as if your superior to the current United fans just because you quit supporting because they didnt participate in the FA cup for one season. I can understand your concern about tradition and respect. But coudlnt you understand that this was a rare oppornutity for United at the time, who had just one the CL and-wanted to participate in a new competition that was hyped to have the potential to be one of the biggest. It would have put United down in history as being the first club in europe to win the Worl club championship. If you notice this current United team show alot of respect and class. You never see them do disgusting things on the pitch or throw money in peoples faces to keep them quiet about revealing dirty deeds. I can respect your reasons for quitting as its not like you signed a oath. But if you want to pass snide comments about united supporters, then expect it to be thrown back in your face.

I'm kinda getting tired of this stupid discussion. But I'm gonna give my final response and just link to it from now on.

I agree that your reasons for no longer liking Man Utd are valid but how can that suddenly change your support for the whole club?
Take Pro Evolution Soccer for example, the progression with each series is a load of balls, I even have a signature urging others to not support them yet I still come crawling back and I still play the series on more or less every format available. Why?
Another example I could think of is when I was a kid, I used to be a HUGE wrestling fan and watched WWE all the time like most other kids (but I enjoyed it more than others). Right now its a load of shit and the industry is (arguably) in decline. But I STILL tune in every single week, stay up till 2am every monday to watch something that I know is gonna suck. Who on Earth would be so naive?
And another example is seeing fans of out of form teams like West Ham turn up in thousands or seeing thousands of the same Man Utd fans, who once said they'd walk out on the club if Glazer took over, still turn up to watch their games.
Now why do we all do this? I dont know. But theres something there. Maybe its that small sparkle of hope that things will change, or the neverending wait for the moment that gives you goosebumps just thinking about it. These people are what you call true passionate fans.
And if you ask me, the fact that you dont see our point of view makes me question just how loyal you were to Man Utd in the first place. I doesnt matter how low we stoop, who we sell our soul to or how badly the team performs. Cuz I support the team enough to swollow my pride and stick by my team no matter what happens.
Does that make me biased? yeah. But do I give a shit about what any of you think? Hell no.

So this is to all of you evo-webbers out there. I dont care how biased you think I am. I dont give a shit about how much of a prick I sound like whilst defending my team. And I dont care if you think its stupid to love a team so much cuz your opinion doesnt matter to me.
Cuz when I finally experience my "moment" and I sit there with a tear in my eye, I'll be the one laughing the loadest. And even if I reach the age of 80 and never see that day, I'll just raise my hands, admit I was stupid and say "Hey, atleast it was one hell of a roller coaster ride and I loved every second of it".

So if anyone ever "leaves" a club like Stan has, I doubt you ever truely supported your team like most others do anyway.

Alucard, if you would care to read your words that provoked my sarcastic comment then i'm sure you would understand why i made that comment. You say that i have a hatred against your club (which isn't true, which would be stupid wouldn't it...why hate an abstract thing as a football club???), please read your comment on Chelsea again and admit that this surely is a litle tribalistic.

RuneEdge, i think i understand you...sure i have never been as fanatical (and this isn't necessary negatively meant this time) as you as a Man Utd supporter. As much as i like football, it isn't that important to me...
I respect your opinion although i don't share it.
But honestly i don't think that you will feel that way if you're gonna be 80. You will never admit it, but i think one day you'll have to admit that that arrogant Belgian sod wasn't entirely wrong.

Alucard, the fact that Man Utd did not play the FA Cup wasn't the only reason why i gave up on them...but that would lead us too far.

But like I said, I dont care cuz it would have been worth it for the experience I would have had whilst I was still young. Like the saying goes, its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
And you're also assuming I wont feel the same at 80 when in fact we know. Thats like trying to say theres no such thing as a passionate 80 year old football fan which I know isnt true.

Why would you care to defend chelsea? I don't get it. Unless of course that is your new team who you admire. Just to correct you on one thing; I said you have a hatred towards United supporters, not the club.

I don't particularly care about Chelsea although i enjoy their football from time to time..
I don't hate Man Utd supporters, what's the point in doing so...

The answer is in your question: you only SEE me picking on Man Utd supporters..i think i have had far more discussions with Arsenal fans (and mostly after matches against Man Utd) than with you people...but a couple of Man Utd fans seem to have a grudge.
I've had discussions with Milanista, ClassicD, Terry Butcherfan, CSaunders, Vann and with all these people i've a good virtual relationship. Nobody of these people thinks i hate their club or their clubs' supporters...i guess it will not be our last virulent discussion.

What kind of discussion were you expecting after a post like that?
