Skip this bit if you want:

On Thursday Reading FC decided to go back on years of loyal service and give Radio 107 exclusive rights to match commentary, leaving BBC Berkshire without anything.
BBC Berkshire have stuck by Reading for years, whereas Reading 107 only started up a few years ago and even dropped the commentary when we went through a bad patch. They only brought it back this year when they realised we would be promoted  Oh, and Radio 107 is owned by John Madejski so it probably wasn't even a fair competition for the rights, as they upped the price by 3x what it was last season.

Anyway, not only is Reading 107 utter shit and BBC Berkshire excellent (pre and post match coverage and superb commentators), but Reading 107 has a very small area it can broadcast to, meaning anyone outside of the immediate Reading area can't receive it.
In contrast, BBC Berkshire can received as far away as Central London and as West as Swidon, and also is broadcast on Digital Radio. All this means that far far less people will be able to listen to Reading matches on the radio, plus it will be awful quality coverage.

The chairman, since deciding to sell the club, has become a money-grabbing stubborn bastard, and even if the signatures on the petition are false, the more there are the better it looks, so please sign

BBC could broadcast by digital radio (does it go all around the world?) whereas 107 can't broadcast further than 8 miles.....

satelite radio is world wide like internet,I think ditgal can split up so same stations with more outlets so 107 can split up and in the other cities it will change from 107 to 105 with the same signal. The problem is you have to get a new radio and pay 10.00 monthly. It comes in cars already, like onstar services.

Success!

RFC Statement said:
Following the recent announcement regarding radio commentary for the 2006/7 Premiership season, the Club has released the following statement:

'We are aware that some supporters are unhappy with the announcement that BBC Radio Berkshire has decided not to pay the live commentary fee that we requested for the forthcoming Premiership season.

'We believe the commentary fee has been set at a fair level for Premiership football, especially for a radio station that only has one professional club within its broadcast area.

'However, we are prepared to meet BBC Radio Berkshire in the middle on the figures that have been quoted in the media, and we hope that they will reconsider their offer so that these ongoing discussions can reach a mutually satisfactory conclusion.'

Hopefully BBC Berks don't pass up this opportunity

Just goes to show fan power can get results
