Setting up your PS2 for online play

Hello All,

I bought a router together with my ps2 and pro evo.
Everything seems to be alright when playing online. No lag when playing green opponents. BUT -->
I somehow disconnect every time after, lets say 30 minutes. I dont think its always the same, but on average after 2-3 matches. Which is crap becuz i lose every last game with 3-0 -.-
I have the same with the chatprogram xfire since i bought the router/ps2/pro evo. Also disconnects.
But for example, when playing a PC-game online, I have no problems at all.

I have windows XP and my router is a SITECOM DC-202v5
ow yea and i have broadband dsl (3Mb/s download ... 512Kb/s)

ow and this is not only the last few days, its since i got my ps2 slimline, that is 1 month ago i guess.

Anyone able to help?

I've got Zonealarm Pro. Can anyone explain how to open up ports for me? My PS2 is connected to my pc by ICS. At the moment, I'm only able to connect it by shutting down my firewall.

Although someone else said no, I am sure the answer is yes. What set up do you have? You might have a Wireless modem/router that still has Ethernet ports at the back. Failing that I think you can also buy a wireless adaptor for the PS2 that takes the place of the cable. Expensive but do-able. Go to uk.playstation.com for more info on wireless connections.

I finally got my NAD yesterday (Network Access Disc) so regular readers of this thread will be able to find out if my story has a happy ending!
 
hello i've got a problem to connect my ps2 I've the error 604 . What are the manual configurations to insert for calibrate the game ?

Yes there is mate...I have it setup wireless now. I'm using the netgear wirless games adapter. You just need to allow the ps2 ip on your router/modem and it should work fine ;)

Im having problems with connecting.

Im with BT broadband, im connecting an ethernet crossover cable straight into my computer without a router, and into the back of my ps2 slimline.
When i test the connection it says successful, but when i actually try toplay online it gets stuck at "verifying DNAS", and brings up the error message:
Network error (-612)
There was no response from the DNS Server. Please check your network configuration.

Help is much appreciated as Im extremely pissed off.

Despite your goon affiliations, I will endeavour to help you.

I believe what you have is a problem with the firewall. You will need to ring BT Broadband and explain that you need to disable certain ports on your router to be able to play PS2 online. Very important you mention all this because in my experience, only a handful of their staff will have a clue what you're talking about.

Don't despair if they pack you off to a call centre in Delhi - it happened to me and they were able to solve my problem much easier than dozy Debbie and her chums in England. You will need to go through the settings on your router with them, and on the PS2. He will read out information that you need to plug in. Once it's done, you're in!
 
Hmmn, interesting the reason I don't play is cause' there may be a player out there on like five stars [*****] against someone that's got like three stars [***] but how do you settle it.

Also, do you both need to have a network adaptor. Also, if your just playing in your room or something it's going to look a bit odd if someone see's you playing with someone that's not there.

I enjoy playing Pro Evoloution a lot but I would'nt consider playing itagainst somebody else on a kind of internet connenction. Presumeably you'd be able to play against someone in a foreign or countrie or not?

I hear Pro Evoloution manager was out on the first of March anyone have it? May go into 'Game' later to see if I can get it. It's quite cheap actually £ twenty quid.

Firstly, there are no *****'s in cyberspace. Everyone plays at the same level - which I think is probably set at 5. Yes, you need a network adaptor, and finally, it all depends on what that someone terms as 'odd'?

Playing someone else at Pro Evo would seem more normal than playing yourself, no? The fact that they're not there in the room with you is a miracle of Science and the hard work of John Logie Baird and Alexander Graham Bell among thousands of others. Are you going to refuse all their hard work simply because an interloper (no doubt of an advanced age) would put this miracle down to the work of Witches and Warlocks!?

Nay!

I can't say that I bother with Pro Evo online very much, because once you've played one brazillian solo run specialist, you've played them all, but there are lot's of other games you can try. If you have the money to do it, I recommend you give it a go.

Lol! After all that work too! No, I have a few mates who are slowly getting themselves up on the network so I will revisit.

I really got online for EG, and that's been great (except sometimes there is no one about to play). The problem with PES is there are so many people online that you never find those who you had a good game with. So you try a new person, and 8 times out of 10 it is some dribble-athon fixated tool.

Mind you, imagine what it's like on FIFA' 06! :lol:
 
Hurrah I'm on-line, well sorta, got me machine hooked up to the interweb \\:o/ , but when I go to sort out a tag/registration name it comes up 'bad communication' :( not wrong about that - so what's going on?

I've also had problems with EA and trying to sort out a tag for timesplitters - Am I dumb? :shock:
 
please help me!!- ive got my ps2 set up for online play as set out above- all fine- diagnostic test fine on my connection-

but when i load up pro evo 5 it will not let me select the 'network' option (on the main menu screen) i'm guessing you need to select for online play. please help i am dying to play this game online!!!
 
That is an odd one - with all games it automatically 'enables' even if your connection isn't always working. I can only assume the PS2 can't sense your connection.

Are you sure it's fully plugged in at the back?
 
Well I don't understand three things... When u guys say that ur PS2 is connected to ur PC what do u actually mean??? What is the pupose of te router?? And finally, do I actually need the network adaptor to play online or can I connect the PS2 to a PC and play online? Thx for a quick answer!
 
hey guys, any help would be appriecited here, i click network on pro evo, then load my network settings from the memory card, everyone goes well untill it gets to 'Testing network environment' and nothing happens, ive plugged the ethernet cable into back of my Bt Voyager 205 ADSL Router, what am i doing wrong, how do i fix this? Thanx!! :(

when I get PES6 Im thinking of making the leap to Online gaming. But I havent got a clue what I need to do. Heres what ive got.

An old PS2 - so i guess i need to buy a network adaptor for that.

A wandoo(orange) 2 meg broadband connection with ADSL modem. Theres a USB out the back to my PS2 base unit and another lead (that can be taken out to the phone).

I really dont understand how im going to link my PS2 to broadband. Soe simple instructions as to how this can be achieved or what extra I need to buy really would be greatly appreciated.

nos nao nos falamos por estupidez mas tb n custa nd ajudar e ktos mais a jogar melhor... ia podes... saka o programa WinDip v1.7, procura no google. dps abre, e abre a imagem do jogo (PES6 em iso) no programa, dps faz scan file, dps verify e dps mete la este codigo nos espaços em branco

dps karregas em patch, grava o jogo pa dvd e ja o DNAs ja passa e ja podes jogar online. fika fixe e felicidades na tua vida, embora julgues k te odeio ou koisa do genero enganas-te, n gosto de konflitos, fica bem pedro e boas jogas :)
 
eu n penso nada,n foi pela estupidez, foi por mandares cenas parvas de um jogo á cara e n pensares na amizade mas sim num jogo de play, mas enfim.vou comprar o original assim n corro riscos manhosos.o fabio vem dormir a minha casa todos os fim de semanas e ele pergunta te se vais usar o nick notty, cuidado q ele a partir da meia noite de sexta liga o cheat mode e limpa toda a gente com o seu forlan invisivel. boas jogas p ti tb q o cheat te acompanhe q a mim ainda n é neste jogo q tenho sorte, talvez no pes9.
 
ia tou co nick notty mas n tenho jogado mto por falta de tempo, e n e nenhum risco, vou online sem probs e este ano n vou dar 60 euros pelo jogo pk axo k n vale a pena. kt ao cheat ja sabes o k penso disso, seja cm for tb n tou grande koisa neste jogo ate pk n gosto do plantel k o real fez, sem numero 10 e com jogadores de 30 anos pra cima enfim..n fazem nd outra vez este ano. tenho jogado com o man utd por causa do c ronaldo ou com o barcelona pk tem um plantel espetacular mas n jogava we10 ha bue e o pes ainda por cima ta bue diferente, perdi o jeito mas e semp fixe jogar pk o jogo ta espetacular. bem fikem bem e bons jogos.
 
pa nao consigo registar a minha play na net,é dos servidores estarem em baixo?porque eu no ano passado tb n consegui registar a minha play no pes5 on line, teve q ser através de outra.
 
ia esse e akele problema de registar um ID k ja tiveste no PES 5, isso e por kausa do nosso chip Matrix, eu tb ja n konsegui este ano e o ano passado com o outro chip konseguia, tive de pedir a alguem pa me registar um. tens de pedir aki no forum a alguem ou entao tenta entrar com outro meu pk fizeram-me dois.

o username é EmanuelCardoso e a password é emanuelcardoso ; se n der tenta com a play do teu primo mas eu acho k o problema é mm do chip e ele tem o mesmo k o nosso.
 
q merda, ja nem me lembrava q era preciso registar.mas ainda n da para jogar on line,eu tenho medo q a konami consiga barrar o pessoal e dps q n se consiga jogar c o jogo patch'ado.e o lag?sera q tem mt este ano? se calhar vai ser cm no ano passado,cheaters do lag
 
eu ja n vou la ha uns dias mas a konami nao barra, e na boa mm, pk o patch patcha o DNAs pa um verdadeiro e eles n konseguem detectar, este ano n gasto 60 euros. kto ao lag eu achei tar mto melhor k o ano passado e ate da pa jogar 2 vs 2 com cada um em sua casa e so kurto jogar nesse modo, eskolhes alguem la e jogas contra outros 2, da bue pica mm. kontra brazucas e sul americanos o lag kontinua impossivel, mas kontra ppl k tenha 3 barras (ekivalente ao verde o ano passado) joga-se mm na boa e o proprio jogo e mais rapido e solto k o PES 5 e isso tb ajuda.
