Great first half (poor seconde), maybe Henry misse a penalty shoot (17') :l
and Bosnia one shoot, one goal

for me the best player is Patrice Evra (play just the first half)

Domenech has announced new France squad.. good line-up (poor number of players, 20), maybe Henry misse a penalty shoot

Fabien Barthez (Marseille),
Gregory Coupet (Lyon);
Eric Abidal (Lyon),
Jean-Alain Boumsong (Rangers),
Patrice Evra (Monaco),
William Gallas (Chelsea),
Gael Givet (Monaco),
Bernard Mendy (Paris Saint Germain),
Sebastien Squillaci (Monaco);
Alou Diarra (Lens),
Claude Makelele (Chelsea),
Benoit Pedretti (Marseille),
Robert Pires (Arsenal),
Jerome Rothen (Paris Saint Germain),
Patrick Vieira (Arsenal),
Ludovic Giuly (Barcelona);
Djibril Cisse (Liverpool),
Thierry Henry (Arsenal),
Peguy Luyindula (Marseille),
David Trezeguet (Juventus).

Trezeguet is back :mrgreen: with fine legs :)

I heard someone say before that he hasn't got a good chance of being selected due to events behind the scenes (coaching staff, relationships), but i don't know if that's true

David Trezeguet (Juventus) and Alou Diarra (Lens) out for France vs Israel.

IN - Louis Saha (Manchester United) and Vikash Dhorasoo (Milan A.C)

sorry to ruin your buzz thomas, but i think it would be neater if you just bring this into the WC qualifiers thread.

cheers

In the process of rebuilding, expect France to tumble down the FIFA World Rankings.

This often happens after a "massive team" stops...
France have talent enough to make another big team, but it will take time...
I'm not sure if Domenech is the right man to build the team....

France lacks a reference in the midfield!
Meaning that there is no one to take Zidane place as builder of the game!

Portugal for example after Rui Costa, now has Deco, and for Figo has Ronaldo!

But france has world class striker.
But maybe the actual coach is not the indicated...
but like Lionheart said, they will drop in the Fifa ranking, and their exibitions will no be great...

A question.
How is france line up now?... meaning the formation they use... haven't seen the games, only the goals.

From the little i have seen so far maybe france should play in a 442 formation, flat in the middle!

Zidane returns?... no :(

Personally I won't be too worried about France dropping so much, because they have been the best team in Europe and maybe the world to a certain extent for the past few years. The standards they have set is high, and French fans will be familiar with victories and not used to defeat. But with the talent in the French team, France should go through to WC06 at least and maybe to the next round if Henry steps up to the big time. They still have excellent players in Vieira, Henry, Saha, Giuly, Gallas, and potentially Mexes, Evra, and others.

Re: The France Thread "Road to World Cup 2006"

I see Daniel Moreira of Toulouse (ex RC Lens striker) has been called up to replace Giuly. I've always like Moreira in the PES games. Good see him get a run out for the national side. He's a good striker.

Re: The France Thread "Road to World Cup 2006"

Any word on how close Steed Malbranque is to getting a French call up??

Re: The France Thread "Road to World Cup 2006"

What are the odds on the French not making the world cup? cause given their current form they ain't a chance, lucky as hell to escape with a draw from the Ireland match, how the ref bloody managed to miss Bartez deliverying an elbow to the head is beyond me, clear penalty and hopefully the last we see of Bartez for awhile, he is one of the dirtest players in the game and its time UEFA rubbed him out of the game once and for all. Anyway it was a good result for the Irish and hopefully they can march on to the world cup finals.
