They were friends, Cormega did jail for 40 months. Came back appeared on Nas's It was Written. Joined the firm, got kicked out, then they fueded.
 
Sorry but Nas is still KING..... Hip hop rap sucks now adays.... 90's was the best era for hip hop...... The only thing that looks promising this year is Boot Camp material, new nas and that fat joe..... other wise gunit= doodoo diplomats are wack as hell with their kindergarden rhymes...... blah maybe its cause ive been listenin to hip hop since the tribe called quest days.......

Rap was at it's peak in the early 90's. almsot EVERYTHING that came out was good. you had Gangstarr pete rock and CL Biggie Tupac Redman EPMD early-Nas
Nowadays when i look at what 50 has "become", it's all bad. Not that 50 didn't pay his dues through the underground circuit, but it seems like theres no real thing to it anymore...

Fuckin love MF Doom, as Simmsm88 said...Madvillainy is a quality album, but to be honest all the MF albums I've got are equally as good imo. All the special herbs and spices are rude!
 
Rap nowadays just doesn't do me as it used to. There used to be a raw, activist flavor but now its all about "yeah!, I gots mo' money, mo' cars, mo hoes biaatch!" Its all just beat oriented - get a funky/nostalgic beat, rap about your "bitches" and new lifestyle, make a video (a pre-Watershed along with an almost obligatory full on porno version) and you've got a number one selling record deal. CHINGY?!? CASSIDY?! WTF!

You just can't blame them though. Silly rich kids and eejats will judge a song by how much booty they see on screen and pay bucks to hear some fool rapping over the Sesame Street theme song. If people buy it, record companies will continue to invest in no talent rap stars just cos he's got an interesting background.

The shit that was coming from N.W.A., Above The Law, Nas, Big L, Biggie, Death Row Records etc was crazy and it seemed that everything they touch went gold. The difference is, back then, a lot of them had some real issues and just wanted to be heard. They had the crazy, raw beat, but they backed it up with some decent lyrics. 2Pac's "Words of Wisdom" and some of his other stuff were true works of genius.

Its difficult to say who's to blame but I seriously don't like look of the future. Its scary to see how legends like Ice Cube (AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted was a true activist's album) are contradicting themselves to what they used to say back in the days:

Music in general is a joke, not just rap and hip hop. There is still plenty of talent out there, it's just that now it takes more effort to find it because you have to be able to sift through and ignore all the bullshit that is out there. No genre is left untouched anymore, there's crap music whatever you're into, it makes no difference. I personally like all different types of music but you've got to accept that there is always going to be shit music there aswell. You shouldn't let bad commercial music let you believe a whole genre is a joke, there are always people out there making music because they want to, and how they want to.

@ Rockyabir, I hear what you're saying mate, it is a bunch of rich kids. But this genre has always been about using your situation to your advantage where you can. Rapping about your circumstances etc.....and these peoples' situations have changed from back then. It would be wrong of certain people to rap about the struggle of day to day ghetto life, when he's living in a massive house driving a fuckin bentley. Hip hop and rap appeals to a much much bigger market nowadays and people who are talented get paid so what can you do?

I think that 50 is over rated and that Game's albums is much better.
however listening to Beanie Sigel's "The B. Coming" i;ve gotta say that this is one album hard to top. with kanye's album bout to drop in a few weeks, im hoping its as good as the college dropout

Commons album is dope Stringer, a lot of good beats and some nice cameos up in there. Definitely one to kick back and smoke some LALA too as you know Com represents hip hop to the fullest with his Consciousness.
 
that site hiphopgame is sick. is there any way i can rip those songs cos it wont let you download for obvious reasons
