hey we're not talking about how fair or unfair he is!! maybe he's just a bit unfair but he remanis a top class player and yes, that's absolutely NOT good if he doesn't play the world cup..

and it won't be good for ALL the football world, not only for Italy that maybe is gonna lose a great player..

ditto. I was just saying i miss him spitting, nothing personal suggestin he deserved to be injured. I like totti as player he is one of my favourite. Its sad he got injured like this, because he was in top form and one of main reasons why roma are 4th pushing for champions league place.

Thanks to him, they broke the record of most consecutive wins in Serie A - 10 wins.

Yea Roma are seriously going to miss him now , he has been driving them forward.

it's not broken I suppose.. they reached the record (there have been milan and bologna doing that before roma, if I don't go wrong) and roma will break it next week if they manage to win again!!

Yeah Juve as well apparently.

Today they equalled the record and if they win against Lazio next week (added even more twist to this derby now :) ) they will break the record!

Ouch, thats exactly how Smith broke his foot and dislocate his ankle.By looking at the pic,he wont be out for 2 months.Smith will out for 6-8 months and he will miss the World Cup.If Totti's injury is somewhat similar to Smith at least we will know there will be one less spitter in Germany.:D
Godspeed Recovery for Alan Smith and Francesco Totti!

no totti injury is only dislocated ankle. Smith is both dislocated ankle and broken leg so it will take longer for him to recover frmo both injurys. Totti should be fine for world cup.

dunno what papers you read mate, but thats BS:

heres a report from Football Italia:

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti insists that Francesco Totti is in good heart after ankle surgery which may rule him out for the rest of the season. “He is absolutely fine,” he said.

Totti was operated on in hospital last night as surgeons realigned the left ankle ligaments that had been ripped away from the tibia bone and inserted a plate to support a fibula that was fractured after a tackle from Richard Vanigli during his side’s 1-0 win over Empoli yesterday.

Ten screws were also inserted to stabilise the bone as Totti has been given a recuperation time of approximately two-and-a-half months.

Roma have made it clear that they are furious with the result of what they perceive to have been a constant targeting of their captain’s notoriously weak ankles over recent weeks and have demanded more be done to punish tackles from behind.

However, Totti himself appears to be putting a brave face on the situation.

“He is absolutely fine,” said Spalletti. “I thought I would find him bitter and sad but he has given everyone who has gone to see him heart.

“He’s telling continuous jokes like on Sunday Totti will be playing because his son, Cristian, will take his place.

“Obviously for us he is a great loss, but it has to be said that the lads have managed to get by without him even when his personality has been missing from the line-up,” he added.

Next weekend’s Rome derby is delicately poised. Lazio achieved a shock win over high-flying Fiorentina on Sunday and will be high on confidence going into a game in which they are determined to prevent a Totti-less Roma from setting a new League record of 11 straight wins.

“I hope that the fans play even more of a part because the side needs their support now,” continued Spalletti. “I am convinced that we will show our worth and play well even without a key player like Francesco.”

The Roma tactician added that Totti even had words of encouragement for the architect of his downfall, Vanigli, who committed the foul that felled the Italy international.

“He gave him words of support, which surprised Vanigli,” he said. “I spoke to him as well but I could tell at the end of the game that he was upset about what he had done.”

The first signs are that Totti will recover in time for the World Cup this summer, as the operation went well, although he may well have to play in the competition with a plate still in his leg.

“He is determined to get better,” revealed Spalletti. “The first question he asked was how long the recovery time would be and for this reason, too, I think he will make it.”

So he should be fine for the World Cup. 2 months wont be that big of a deal. In a way it could work for him. He could look at it like having 2-3months rest before a big tournament.

I certainly hope so :)

What papers do I read? These. The greatest papers in Spain.

All papers say he's got a broken fibula (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibula) and that it's no less than two months (maybe three) that he'll have to stay away from the pitch.

It's a real pity that some great players are getting injured before the WC... Raúl, Xavi, Valerón, As.Cole, Totti... all had serious injuries this season. Something has to be done.

Pity, I like Totti as a player and my team in Italy (and probably Europe) are Roma. Hope he makes the WC, think the guy is class even though he hasn't hit the heights for Italy.

ok cool. Just that in your previous post you wrote broken leg. Thats what I was getting at.

The fibula is one of the two bones you have in your shin (I think it's the big one down the front), and I believe Totti has cracked it and damaged ligaments, as opposed to Smith's snap and dislocated joint, which is obviously more serious and will keep him out for longer.

And yeah, from what I've seen of Serie A lately Totti has been coming in for some very rough treatment indeed. It was almost inevitable that one of his ankles was going to end up like this eventually.
