Gerd, you're not understanding the purpose of this thread, it's not the best one team but pick a fantasy team based of the best performing players at the world cup from whichever teams you want.

I perfectly understood the purpose of this thread and i think it's a useless exercise.
The best eleven players never give you the best team.
Those "fantasy teams" never give credit to the unsung heroes of teams: the Capdevila's, Annan's and Arevalo's.

Maybe you can win silverware with a team that is composed of those players. You will never, however, win silverware with teams composed with so-called stars like Chr. Ronaldo, Robinho, Ronaldinho, Ribery and other similar prima donna's. They are commercially the big stars of football but they need other players. Usefull players like Dirk Kuyt.

But maybe i should stop reacting to those kind of threads. Every time it's the same. i see the title and i think it's about a team like Spain or Germany and then when i go in the thread it turns out to be one of those fantasy team threads. And then i react the way i did now. I should apologize: i'm sorry.

It's just a bit of fun / discussion about the tournament. And the irony is very few people have put the media touted superstars (Ronaldo / Rooney / Messi) in their teams, instead they have more unheard-of players like Mensah, Lahm, Lugano etc.

I'll go with a 4-3-3, although try and have proper position during the world cup, without switching players like Fucile or Lahm or the likes.

For me Forlan quite rightly won the top player and Muller the young player. Positionally thought Mertsacker was best defender, Schweinsteiger for Midfield and Forlan forward.
