World Cup 2010 - Chile Thread

Valdivia came on and did well but disappointed not to see Mati Fernandez at all and Mark Gonzalez was a disappointment. Not surprised to see Bielsa take him off at half time and bring in Jorge.

But missing Medel and Ponce was a HUGE deal today. Brazil's attacks were always going to be a lot more penetrating without those two and that's what happened.

Nonetheless Chile should be proud of their tournament and with Bielsa in charge, can continue to improve probably even a little further. Good team.
 
Hard luck Chile. Losing Medel and Ponce was huge.

Still I think you played into their hands by playing far too openly.

And you needed to keep it 0-0 to bring them out. Once they go ahead that's all they like to do ,sit back and hit other teams on the counter.

Awful defending for the third as well.

Don't know if Bielsa will stay on though but there is a good nucleus of young players and some of whom will no doubt now get offers to play in Europe.
