In an exhibition match mostly arranged to test newcomers, Simao, Almedia, and Fernandes, the Black Eagles battled to a 2-2 draw against Sivasspor at the Antalya Gloria Sports Center on Saturday.
The game, watched by the Beşiktaş Chairman Yıldırım Demirören and Executive Board members, was supposed to be played behind closed doors, but a last minute managerial decision opened the gates and let the fans in for free.

While Simao Sabrosa was on the starting lineup, the other two Portuguese players Manuel Fernandes and Hugo Almedia came into the match later on as subs. Captained by the Spanish star Guti Hernandes, who handed this duty to İbrahim Toraman in the second half, Beşiktaş were encamped in their own half throughout the opening 45 minutes and relied on quick counterattacks. Simao Sabro’s 10th-minute sliding tackle, which robbed Cihan of what appeared to be goal, earned a huge round of applause from the Beşiktaş fans. Nevertheless, Erman Kılıç put Sivasspor in front after 42 minutes, and the visitors managed to hold onto that lead heading into interval.

Sivasspor’s superiority would last only 15 minutes because a well-timed Nobre header off a Simao corner-kick levelled the scores on 60 minutes. Four minutes later, Beşiktaş’s shining newcomer Simao made it 2-1 for the Eagles when he buried home Quaresma’s excellent pass with a sizzling shot from six yards out. As the match rolled on, Sivasspor mounted several attacks for an equaliser, and in the 67th minute they, would get their reward when Hayrettin’s found the net with header to bring the teams the back on equal terms. Neither, side was able to change the scoresheet during the remaining minutes as the game ended in a hard-fought two-all draw.

In their 3rd Turkish Cup Group B match at the May 19th Stadium last night, Besiktas battled out a 3-2 win away to Manisaspor.

Put out a starting 11 that included new additions Simao Sabrosa and Hugo Almedia, the Eagles were backed by a large and vocal group of travelling fans throughout the game.

The Black and white started the match, which was refereed by Özgür Yankaya, in an attacking fashion and peppered the host team’s net from all sides. After their keeper Ilker Avcıbay barely stopped a 9th-minute Almedia header on the goal line, Manisaspor began to push forward more and even took the lead on 18 minutes. Even though Besiktas keeper Cenk Gönen initially denied Simpson, who found himself on a one-on-one situation after getting clever pass from Yiğit İncedemir, with a timely save, the Canadian managed to steal the ball and roll it into the empty net.

The goal appeared to have breathed new life into the Eagles as they began holding the ball for longer periods in an effort to level the game. They would receive their reward after 34 minutes when defender Sivok smashed past İlker Avcıbay with a bullet header off a perfect Guti Hernandes free-kick and brought the teams on level terms. But Besiktas was not done yet. Three minutes later, Guti lifted another superb pass to Nobre, who fired it over the diving Manisaspor keeper to make it 2-1 for the Eagles and close the scoring for the first half.

The visitors tried to add to their lead in most of the second half but were unable to finish off several close calls. While the Black and White seemed in total control, Ömer Aysan capitalized on a rare Besiktas defensive lapse in the 77th and evened the game from close range with a sizzling shot. Despite having limited time to play, the Eagles kept pushing for the winner and won a penalty at the 82nd-minute mark when Hilbert was pulled down inside the box. Guti sent the keeper to the wrong corner to put Besiktas back in front, 3-2. Late substitutions of Bobo, Fabian Ernst and Ersan Gülüm for Almedia, Guti and İbrahim Toraman did not have any impact on the final result as Besiktas ran out 3-2 victors.

i have recently read an interview from slovak newspapers from Holosko, he is currently at home, prepearing for his season after injury.. and he was talking about what teams wanted him...he had offer from RC Lens and Marseille, but he wanted to stay with his family in Istanbul.. he said he loves Besiktas fans and that many were sad about him leaving..

He said the coach told him that he needed to send him on loan becouse of the foreign players quote.. but he expect him back..

also he said there is interest to sign him from Bursaspor but he thinks he could not do this to Besiktas fans, he said best fans in Turkey...

also he mentioned that now in his new team he will have less supporters in Ataturk stadium,becouse not many are supporting his new loan club..

he was questioned if he would move to other Istanbul team and he said, he rather move to Spain or England in future if he get´s the offer..

He seems to love Besiktas fans ;)

Visiting Black Eagles went down 2-1 to Büyükşehir Belediyespor at Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium on Day 19 of the Spor Toto Turkish Super League.

Playing in front of a vocal Beşiktaş crowd, who braved the cold weather, the Black and White started the game brightly and came close to scoring on two occasions in the first 10 minutes. After stopping Vinicius back pass from going in with a last-second save, Büyükşehir goalkeeper was right on-the-spot to deny Nobre from close range. The Black Eagles kept up the pressure with a number of crosses from İbrahim Üzülmez and Simao but unexpectedly fell a goal behind in the 35th minute. When Beşiktaş’s young goalie Cenk Gönen dropped the ball coming from a corner-kick, Vinicious easily tapped it into the empty net to put the home side 1-0 up. One minute before half time, referee Fırat Aydınus sent midfielder Mehmet Aurelio to early showers after he committed a harsh foul, and the Eagles had to continue the game with 10 men for the remainder of the match. Büyükşehir Belediyespor, who did not show anything offensively during the entire first half except a corner-kick, carried a one-goal lead into the dressing room at the interval.

Beşiktaş Manager Bernd Schuster brought on Fernandes for Nobre in the second half as shorthanded Beşiktaş, led by Quaresma, pushed relentlessly for the equaliser. Despite a flurry of attacks from both flanks, they had to wait until the 66th minute to get on the scoresheet when Simao beat Hasagiç with a perfectly-taken free-kick that went through the wall and into the top right corner. Buoyed by the goal, the Eagles redoubled their efforts for the second but also left large gaps at the back for the home team to advantage of. It appeared as though, only an extraordinary event would slow Beşiktaş down, and twelve minutes before the end that moment came when referee sent Shuster to the stands for arguing a call. Then Forward Ali Güzeldal entered the game for İbrahim Akın to bolster Büyükşehir’s front line and keep the ball in Beşiktaş’s half. The substitution paid its dividend in injury as İskender caught Cenk Gönen off guard with long drive to score the winner and pick up all three points.

Beşiktaş 5 – 0 Gaziantep Bş. Bld.

In the first leg of their Ziraat Turkish Cup quarter-finals, the Black Eagles blanked visitors Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor 5-0 at the Fiyapı Inonu Stadium.

Instructed by the Assistant Manager Tayfur Havutçu, who was filling in for the suspended Bernd Schuster, the Black and White dominated the game from the kick-off with a flurry of early chances. Following a couple of close calls from Sivok and Quaresma, Bobo set up Ernst on 9 minutes with a header, but the German midfielder’s powerful shot just went wide. The Eagles had a another golden chance to break the deadlock in the 21st minute when, after a save on Hilbert’s header, Gaziantep goalkeeper Onur Kalafat dropped the ball at the feet Quaresma but the Portuguese couldn’t take advantage. Nevertheless, two minutes later, Beşiktaş would finally break the visitors’ resistance with a brilliantly-executed goal by Bobo. Following a great through ball from Ernst, the Brazilian got into a one-on-one with the goalie and calmly chipped it over the diving Onur to open the scoring. Fernandes doubled the home side’s lead on 31 minutes when he sent home Ekrem Dağ’s cross from close range. It was Fernandes’ first official goal for Beşiktaş. The Eagles took a two-goal advantage into intermission.

Beşiktaş did not slow down a bit in the second half as Fernandes found target again on the 48th-minute mark after a quick give-and-go with Hilbert to score his second of the game, 3-0. While the visitors were still trying to recover, the Black and White won a penalty when Quaresma was brought down by the goalkeeper inside the 18-yard line. Bobo nicely converted the kick and it made it 4-0 for Beşiktaş. The unstoppable Quaresma would also put his name on the scoresheet with a super 62-minute free-kick and turn the lights out on visitors as the Eagles carried a 5-goal cushion into the rematch.

The two teams will face each other off again in the second leg, which is scheduled for March 2nd in Gaziantep City.

On Day 22 of the Spor Toto Turkish Super League, Beşiktaş and Kardemir Karabükspor played to a one-all draw at the Fiyapı İnonu Stadium.

The afternoon match, refereed by Mustafa Kamil Abitoğlu, got underway at 4:00 pm. With their suspended Manager Bernd Schuster in stands, the Eagles were coached by Assistant Manager Tayfur Havutçu. In a show of brotherhood, the teams greeted the fans hand-in-hand before the kick-off.

Playing in their white jerseys, Beşiktaş applied early pressure by pelting the visitors’ goal with a barrage of shots, after a series of attacks engineered mostly from the right flank. Deep into the half, Karabükspor managed to balance the play and started to threaten with the league’s leading scorer Emenike. With the visitors pushing forward more, the match turned into a nice back-and-forth to the delight of the spectators. The only thing that was missing in the first 45 minutes was a goal as the teams carried a goalless draw into the dressing room at the intermission.

The visitors gained the upper hand at the outset of the second half and took the lead when Emenike successfully finished off a through ball on 55 minutes. The goal seemed to wake the Eagles up as they began to dictate the pace of the game for the next few minutes before finally knotting the contest at 1-1 in the 59th minute when Karabükspor’s Deumi scored an own goal. Beşiktaş took complete control when Quaresma, who was suffering from flu, replaced Fernandes with half an hour to go in full time. The Black and White pressed hard for the winner during the remainder of the match and came close to getting one at the 76th-minute mark, but Almedia’s close-range effort, which appeared to cross the goal-line after hitting the bar in slow motion, was not given by the referee for an unknown reason. Karabükspor managed to hang on in the remaining minutes and earned a point with a 1-1 draw.

Beşiktaş JK Deputy Chairman and Head of Football Committee Serdal Adalı and Committee Member Cengiz Zülfikaroğlu held a press conference at the BJK Nevzat Demir Sports Facilities to discuss the Karabükspor match on Sunday.

After underscoring the significance of the Eagles’ mid-season transfers which would help not only Beşiktaş but the Turkish football’s international standing as well, Mr. Adalı added:

“With our new signings, we have gained exposure to a wider football audience because they are household names in many football loving countries. As you will all agree with me, these transfers have cost us a lot of money. However, for some unknown reasons, we are subjected to unfair treatment by the referees since the start of the season. Due to rough tackles, we kept losing them to injuries one by one while the referees took no disciplinary action.

Starting from our match against Trabzonspor, the same scenario has been repeated over and over again in the second half of the season. If some circles think that they can slow us down with dirty tricks, they are making a big mistake because we have no intention of taking all these lying down. We will fight to the end to protect our international stars.

Although we have repeatedly drawn the authorities’ attention to this matter, the referees are continuing to allow and not punish the rough play in our matches, and Beşiktaş is somehow always given a different set of standard. We are not asking for any favouritism, all we want is justice. We want the referees to book the opposition players for unfair play the same way they punish us for simple tackles. When our rivals are subjected to similar calls, their harsh criticisms of the referees often go unnoticed. We expect the same tolerance from authorities that they show others. I am sure you have seen those players ready to beat the referee when arguing a call. If our players do the same, which rarely happens, they are immediately sent off. Isn’t it a double standard?

The whole world saw the other day that the ball crossed the goal line except the referee and his linesman. If they can’t see an obvious goal like that, they should immediately give up their profession. No referee has a right to downgrade the Turkish football with such dubious calls. No wonder we have very few referees officiating in European matches. I’d like get the President of Turkish Central Board of Referees Mr. Oğuz Sarvan’s views on this.

As I said earlier, Beşiktaş JK is not begging for any kind of favouritism. If we can’t win a title without it, we may as well settle for a second place finish and be proud of it, just like we’ve done many times in the past. However, I am wondering what the responsible parties, who are busy tarnishing the image of Turkish football, are going to be proud of. As Beşiktaş we have adhered to the rules and regulations since our club’s inception, but our patience is running out fast. We also feel it is our duty to maintain the impartiality of Turkish football institutions. If they can’t handle the matches fairly, their officials must resign with immediate effect.

Why referee Fırat Aydınus, who made a mess of our game against Büyükşehir Belediyespor, was assigned to this weekend’s Bursaspor match, instead of sitting out for a couple of weeks, is beyond our apprehension. We also don’t understand the reason for scheduling our league match for Saturday afternoon after our Cup tie on Wednesday night. As the only Turkish team battling on three fronts, this busy schedule is wearing us down and affecting our performance in a negative way. Whenever we ask for an explanation or rescheduling, the Football Federation passes the buck to television network. We all know the deep inside this is not the case.

It is sad to see that the teams, which have made a habit of visiting the referees’ dressing rooms after each match they drop points, are attracting favourable attention from the media attention and not being penalized by the authorities for their unprecedented actions. I believe the time has arrived to ask the question, “Who controls Turkish football and where it is heading?” before it’s too late.

In a couple of weeks, we have a key derby match coming up. If the referees officiate that game poorly, we do not want to be held responsible for our fans’ actions. Beşiktaş fans always reward fair play, but they are not happy with the recent events and worried just like us. So far, we have paid a heavy price for our fans’ justified protests, playing a number of matches either away or behind closed doors. But we refuse to do so from now on and invite the authorities to take necessary steps to prevent unwanted events. Especially, the events taking place outside the Fiyapı Stadium are none of our concern.

Whenever our Eagles start soaring high, they are subjected to poor refereeing and ground closings. But these types of unethical tactics will not deter us from reaching our goals. We will continue to play our football in a fair and honest way. I am sure our performance will soon be appreciated by all because we have no other aims right now. Under the circumstances, we don’t care where we end up in the table this season. We’ll just go out there and do the best we can.

We are not the only team who is not happy with Fırat Aydınus, and there are also other referees the teams bitterly complain about. By looking at the present performances of Turkish referees, no should be surprised if we see foreign referees on our pitches in near future.

Leaving out few names, most referees do not have the capacity to officiate Beşiktaş’s fast-paced, offensive football and fail to protect its international stars against rough play. In fact, they are not used to seeing so many of them in one team so they give in the ensuing pressure. Unable to show the required courage of booking opposition, majority of them want us to end our games in a draw.

However, with its long and proud history, Beşiktaş JK is no small town team and calls on the authorities to upgrade their performances in the name of sportsmanship and fair play. Otherwise, we will defend our rights in a way no other club has ever had to.

Most people are still not aware of the fact that Beşiktaş JK’s matches are being televised in Spain, Portugal, Germany and a number of Arabic countries on a regular basis. But poor refereeing turning our otherwise entertaining games into farces and someone must put an end to it.

Beşiktaş JK Football Committee Member Cengiz Zülfikaroğlu also slammed the referees and the Football Federation:

“If you can’t see what you are supposed to see, you are going to pack your bags and go home. We don’t get to see this type of horrendous refereeing in the Europa League. We have never argued the calls in those matches because there is nothing to complain about. In addition to this, why we played on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday no one knows. I think an all-out war is being staged against us these days. We were penalized just two days after our Bursaspor match, but the decision for the events of Galatasaray v Fenerbahçe U-18 match awaited for 25 days.”

Besiktas are having a awful season. They spend all that money and have 'supposedly' star players but are 13 points behind Fenerbahce all the way down in 6th place.

On Day 31 of the Turkish Super League, Beşiktaş shut out arch-rivals Galatasaray, 2-0, at the Inonu Stadium. The Black Eagles started well and created most of the early chances, but due to hasty finishing, failed to convert them. The game eventually developed into a battle in midfield as the first half ended goalless.
Beşiktaş was definitely the better side in the second half and took the lead through Aurelio’s header on 59 minutes. While the visitors were trying to figure out what hit them, the Portuguese midfielder Simao made it 2-0 two minutes later with a fine strike from inside the box. Neither team managed to change the scoresheet in the remaining minutes as the Eagles ran out 2-0 victors to pocket all three points.

Both teams started the Cup final flexing their offensive muscles, but the Eagles eventually asserted their authority and went ahead through Quaresma on 32 minutes. Despite a flurry of late Buyuksehir chances, the score stood 1-0 in favor of Besiktas at half-time.

Buyuksehir looked the better side early in the second half and managed to level the scores on a 55th- minute İbrahim Akın penalty. The equaliser seemed to energise the blue and orange for more as they took the lead with a fine strike from substitute Gökhan unal 15 minutes later. But, at the 68th-minute mark, Besiktas defender Sivok’s perfect header brought the teams back on even terms once again and forced an extra time.

“We are all overjoyed with the outcome. I won many titles as a player, but this one was my first as a manager so it carries a special meaning for me. Despite being picked to win, we came in here knowing that it was going to a real tough battle, but we had to win at all costs because this was our only chance to compete in Europe next season. Oh yeah the 'Portuguese' Besiktas is winning it all! I saw the penalties shootout and I was very glad that you won. Congrats (or should I say Parabéns?) :LOL:
