New system for marking forums/threads as read

Due to the forum upgrade there's a new option that is now in force on a trial basis. The system used up til now (since we left PHPBB) was very inaccurate and it meant that if you were inactive on the forums for 5-10 minutes every post was marked as read. This will no longer happen.

Basically, the unread post icons should now be 100% accurate, in other words a forum or thread won't be marked as read until you've read the last unread post in it or used the "mark all as read" option.

It's the same system we used to have before upgrading to the vBulletin forum software and means the unread post indicators work how you'd expect them. There may be a performance hit, which is why it's a trial at the moment.

Let me know of any problems and whether you like the system working how it should again or not. :)

It would be nice if when we log out, all forums, threads and posts were marked as read.
Is it possible to do that?

No, sorry. That functionality might also annoy people as well if they wanted to keep track of what they hadn't read but had to log out til later.

Everything is marked as read with the 'Mark Forums Read' option on the front page of the forums, that's the closest we can get.
