eFootball PES 2021 Discussion Thread (CONSOLES)

I'm buying PES 2021, but I have my reasons. I walked away from PES 2020 on Superstar months ago as the AI was just rotten. I've had a nice break. But I'm fully committing myself to going manual passing/shooting for 2021 down on Professional, which has a lot less player-nerfing crap, so it will have a slight new game feel to it, for me.

That, and I'm hoping they at least do away with the purple "theme". I'd pay to see that gone, haha!

I agree with a lot of statements here about the state of the game. It's been broken for years, but I still wanna play it. I'll try and make the best of a bad situation.

2022 must deliver.

I don't want to think Konami releases a simple roster update and ask money for that only. It's like they ask to pay for a DLC! I want to hope they release something new in terms of gameplay, they are able to do that so why they shouldn't?

I wish that, if they improve gameplay experience, fix bugs etc I would buy but Im not going to buy with closed eyes without seeing any feature about gameplay at least

In my opinion PES 2021 will be playable for long time something like pes 6 or pes 13 because these two years (20/21) are one of best years for modding, many amazing mods and too much creativity and quality works from graphics to gameplays etc ... but, this only if Konami add some cool and new features to master league and the gameplay.
Sorry for my bad english.

So, if I skipped 2020, do I keep playing a modded PES 2019 or upgrade to 2021? I'm worried PES 2021 won't have many mods because people won't upgrade.

If they change anything it will probably be something minor like the ftex version etc but it's the same engine same structure and files I would bet everything will work fine with the odd tweak

It feels really weird not having a new PES game on the horizon for the first time ever. I really am missing the hype.

The annual demo release is unashamedly one of my favoute days of the year & it's usually around this time.

Still on the fence about purchasing the season update, I'm toying with the idea of having a year off from footy games completely but not sure I'll be able to see it through.

Well, I don’t see too much of a difference. It’s just an update like every year, only that they call it an update this time around. you will still see teams, leagues and stadiums being gone or coming new to the game. You will have your teams and stats updated that do not represent the real life team until the first or second update. Looks like a lot of the same to me only some marketing phrases are gone. if we are lucky they forget to take out some gameplay features or change base control features for the sake of it. ;)
i could be wrong through. If I am guys, let me know please.

For me I need to see a bigger increase in the foul count, and for actual penalties to be given.
Not going to happen IMO, already had a patch In 2020 with higher counts in both and it was reduced again. Again in my opinion they can't have both open end to end online football and a single player game that delivers fouls. I imagine having a decent foul count slows down online play too much and would require skill and patience to master , that's not the direction Pes is going. ps5 won't fix that as we've seen it's not a hardware issue it's development choice

Out of curiosity @hitmanuk, may I ask you to what patch of pes 20 are you refering (i.e. from 1.01 to 1.8.0)? Thanks.

I think 1,03 had the most fouls and pens or 1,04 (before xmas)..I was getting 1 every 3 games or so and was the only patch I saw a straight red for a professional foul ...I remember one game having 12 fouls ..1.05 they started to drop off and i think that was my last penalty. Without crashing the thread I’ve found my own FIFA sliders for 20 and I’m getting more free kicks then Pes and the odd penalty

I'm very satisfied with PES2020 on Holland's gameplay that I see no need to buy 21 really. But I'm deffo not getting FIFA21. Will see how the first round of reviews go by you lads.

I'm getting PES 2021, as there may be small tweaks to gameplay as per the data packs that release every few months. And the price their charging isn't bad, considering EA charge full price for basically the same thing with even worse AI. TheTrueBrits on YouTube made a great video about the FIFA trailer for those thinking of swapping. But I feel that the referees issue may be down to the actual engine, so maybe 2022 see's the improvement everyone wants

You Just have to look at PES2020 to see that gameplay has gotten worse with each datapack that was released in it's life cycle. As for TheTrueBrits, he has a vested interest in PES so no matter what PES does wrong he's always going to be far more critical of the other game.

This will be the first time since 2002 i will not pre-order and probably skip the whole year. Unless it turns out to be any good, in which case i will wait for a discount. In the meanwhile I will vey much enjoy the discussions here as a surrogate for my fix. 🍿

Also, i do like to believe FIFA will put in some extra effort this year and seize this opportunity to lure a good chunk of the PES crowd in by making the gameplay more PES-like. I will kinda hate them for doing so, but then again rather have one good football game this year then none at all.

Might EA succeed in capturing the PES feeling - easier said than done - PES will be in an almost impossible position to get out if they dont succeed to really innovate next year (within the spirit of the series, not by in turn imitating FIFA).

At least for 2022 i wont expect any surprise from Konami innovation-wise (although the hype in the run-up will ofcourse suggest otherwise). Switching to a new engine alone, when done in the right way, will take up all their resources in itself. Only if they have been working on some new ground breaking AI engine that they can now finally implement and shock the world with. Yeah.. maybe if they skipped 5 years instead.

Maybe the whole bipartising thing always leads to mediocracy by nature and we need that holy trinity. But its just so darn hard to create a decent football game out of nothing, let alone one that nails the gameplay aspects. Anyone has a handful of computer scientists, AI specialists and some aerospace engineers laying around with lots of free time and nothing better to do? PM me 😘

It seems like even the real hardcore fans that defended Pes and Konami until now finally realized that Konami doesn't deserve our money. Galvani Renan on twitter is heavily criticizing Adam Bhatti and his promise about the 3 years Master League plan, Konami and their decision to sell the season update at that price. He is telling his followers on twitter to not buy the game unless it receives a deep price cut. He also told his followers to not buy Myclub coins because that's where Konami makes most money.

Obviously i'm totally with him, not going to buy the season update even if it costs 5€, it's pratically an option file they are releasing, the difference is Pes editors already do that every year with way more details and they ask nothing, so why should i pay Konami?

I would have purchased the season update in a heartbeat if the offline gameplay for PES2020 had been in a good place but the fact that they're including 3000 myclub coins to PES2021 shows that they just don't care about modes like ML. This whole 3 year plan was one big con by them, imo.

PES 2021 has been released to take money from customers for myclub, others modes are ignored

Indeed, PES 2021 is a no-buy for me unless the gameplay is more like PES 2020 demo again
Will only take a month since someone will come up with PES 2021 menu colors and next season squads and maybe scoreboard color adjustment to have PES 2021 in PES 2020
Hope KONAMI leaves the path on promoting PES 2021 after release pretty quick and start teasing more on PES 2022, where real magic should happen with UE5

agree but konami needs to promote his game pes 2021 this year, where is the marketing¿? Fifa 21 has a lot of new features this year and is not a season update, konami need to take action and present us something till release of game if they have something to show us...

It have happen to every other PES game too - demo is the best and with each update game becomes worse and worse!

Well they are being kinda honest for the first time in a very long period since there indeed are no new features.

So there probably isn't anything to really promote out there. Same game as 2020 with the odd balance tweak here and there. And the much awaited MyClub coins of course (rotlf)

They need to announce they are going to fix errors from pes 2020 at least something marketing sell your game not only myclub coins jesus christ

As I’m not an online gamer... will the 2020 servers still work for online matches when 2021 hits the shelves? What about 2020 myclub then? I’m just curious.

at this point i think we can only assume it would be 2 different servers?
imagine if 2020 servers were ditched in favour of 2021's? Rage against the machine resonates in the background

But yes, i have the same questions as you, if i have 2021, will I be able to play against people with 2020 only?
MyClub 2021 will start from scratch or teams will be transferred?
