Minions - 7/10

I found it funny at points, however I think too much Minions made it not as enjoyable as the Despicable Me films.

She's funny that way (2014): I love screwballcomedies, they had their highs in the 30's and 40's, but one of my favourite ones is "What's up doc?" from 1972 by Peter Bogdanovich. And so I was curious when I read that Peter Bogdanovic, the master himself, made this new screwballcomedy in 2014. Unfortunately it doesn't hold a candle to "What's up doc?", it seems like he forgot what makes a screwball comedy good and worthwhile. It's not about having some funny scenes stitched together, it's about having two main characters have a humourous verbal battle with sexual tension within a social environment in which a cataclysm happens that changes the characters.
In "She's funny that way", there is no such exchange between the two main characters, there is no sexual tension, no magic, no cataclysm... It has a few funny scenes, and it's generally watchable, but the characters lack credibility and life, and the story cries for a good plot. Still, it's not a complete loss as I really like the main actrice Imogen Poots, but she has still to search for the right movie where her talent will shine through and be worth it. 5/10

Fast and Furious 7: Despite the lack of a good story, I very much enjoyed the first half of the movie, love the fight between the Rock and Statham, liked the car- and other action in the mountains and in the arab desert-town. But after that the second half was just boring and lame, and the finale action setpieces just didn't engage me with that helicopter and it looked all unconvincing (too much reliance on CGI). So without engaging and convincing actionsetpieces, the lack of a story hurt even more.
For me this was one of the weakest "Fast and furious"-movies, part 1 and 5 are imho way better, but even the other "weak" parts of the series offered imho more engaging stories. 4/10.

Jurassic World - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed this, loved how the dinosaurs played out.

Think I actually liked it better than the original. Loved the ending.

Straight out of Compton 8/10

Can honestly say that this music type is way away to what I listen to. However I didn't really know the impact they made on the music scene and it really was quite enjoyable to learn and watch..

The Martian - 8/10

Very good film, much better storytelling than Interstellar.

Interesting. I actually really like Interstellar so I really like the look of this.

The book was really good but way too much science and explanations going on. I've got high hopes for the movie.

In hindsight Interstellar was boring because they struggled to engage the audience throughout.

The Martian does a much better job with the storytelling and direction.

Matt Damon is excellent and carries the film well.

The Martian 7/10

as DagsJT said...too much science for the mass, and im part of that. and i understand tho its a spacecowboy-nerd movie. so im eager to hear the fans of the book to decide if Ridley Scott is back or not? the movie itself is beautiful tho especially in 3D, Scott hasnt lost his touch in that. altough its kinda obvious that Damon's character havent lost 20-30 pounds and it was just a body double only for the naked shots, also i spotted some obvious maquettes in some of the wide shots, those weres the let downs for me

Sicario - 8/10

Intense film, good job by the cast and crew.

saw both and disagre..

i feel intersteller was far better. Martian was decent though

I guess I'm not as big on these type of movies as I think.

Interstellar was crap and I remember that other sham of a movie with the 300 clones or whatever it was that was getting rave reviews, what a pile of shite that was. Same with Gravity. Think I'll stick to my Star Wars as these type of movies are obviously not my cup of tea.

Mad Max:- 6.5/10 It was alright, nothing special. Mad Max is a kinda 'mad' movie, maybe it was a bit too much for me, the original was better, although no classic or such for me.

Legend 6/10

the sets and Tom Hardy is amazing but nothing legendary happens in the movie its a crapy love story, i wouldnt mind a love story but its jost not a maffia movie at all and i couldnt believe they were in love with eachother at all so the movie become really boring quickly

I like the old Mad Max movies, but Fury Road is not compareable to the old ones.
Fury Road is a nearly non stop action movie, and has more Action in it like the first three movies together.

The 2nd was good, better than the third one and way better than the original one, which is a total different world.

For me Fury Road is clearly better than the old ones.

I like star wars movies too. Check out guardians of the Galaxy. I reckon u will love it

Spectre - 7.5/10

am gonna wait two weeks to watch it, it will come to Tunisia November 15th.

anyways, since the beginning am convinced this movie will never be at the level of Casino Royale.
my only hope is that it tops Skyfall which was overrated.

I've only seen Skyfall once and not in ideal conditions (Netflix rather than BD), based on what I remember Spectre is better than Skyfall but certainly nowhere near the level of Casino Royale.

I think the film will split opinions, this trilogy would have been better and more memorable if they stuck with the Casino Royale mentality.

The Spectre script is bad.

the most beautiful thing this year

deal_with_it_paul_rudd.gif

I'm all for good coming of age stories, I just don't like the trend of the last years to bring in serious illnesses into movies in order to have more weight, it feels lazy and somewhat cheap. Just saying this in general, haven't seen this movie yet.

Xmen days of future past- rogue cut Some additional scenes are welcome, like at the beginning having Bishop and co debating changing the past and that it means that their lifes could be wiped out of history, I also liked the additional Mystique/Beast-making out-scene, but the rest of the new scenes were imho superfluous, like the whole Rogue-rescuing and replacing Kitty scenes.

if i understand what u say than this movie isnt like 50/50 where the cancer was the main focus. here its more about human relationships and it has a bit of Wes Craven esque aswell wich i love. just like The Fountain where it wasnt about the girl's death but about the acceptance of death in general

Jurassic world: First 30 minutes were ok but then it became a complete mess, full with infantile humour, no tension, no credible characters. I didn't like Jurassic Park 1 that much back then but compared to this it was a masterpiece. 3/10
