WE 10 - Official Master League Thread

Not sure if anyone is on here now.

Anyways, had to be one of my most disappointing ends to a ML. Was top of the league for practically all of the season (if not, the full). However on the 2nd last game I was defeated and it let Udinese who had crept up out of the blue and jumped over me and Torino. The last game of the season had me needing a win and hoping for the best with Udinese, Torino had lost out completely so I knew I was up.

Things went pear-shaped once again and I was beaten 2-1 by Parma who where bottom of the league. To my dismay Udinese had drawn, therefore if I had won I would have clinched the title, the 2nd goal was terrible, with my goalie kicking it off their forward into my net. :( To follow it all up I faced off against Livorno in the cup final and was beaten again. :(

I did get promoted though which was a little consolation.

Now face off against the best of Turkey, Italy, Greece and a couple of other teams from the Eastern Block. Teams relegated where Red Star Belgrade and Levski Sofia. Have won my first 2 games against Turkish teams Galatasary and Fenerbahce. My old 36 year old captain(Was Michael Mols in the team I edited over, but I renamed him Stavros) and he scored a hat-trick in the 1st match and 2 in the next. This will be his last season, hopefully he'll go out liftin a trophy. Milan are next up.

Started a new ML after many months away from WE10....and it's been refreshing...the gameplay and the fun....
and of course the realism....

check this out..
I'm Liverpool on 5*, and only few games to go this season
in Div1....
Chelsea and ManU are in a 2-horse race....
Charlton are bottom....
Liverpool, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Bolton, Newcastle, Spurs,
all in a fight for the Champions league spots.
We had a terrible struggle early in the season,
After winning 4 out of the first 6, we failed to win the next
7 games.
Chelsea are our bogey team, having beaten us 2 out of 3 times.
Last met them in the FA cup semis, where we managed a heroic
1-1 away draw with 10 men after Alonso was off in the 1st half.
But in the return leg, they beat us 3:2.
5 games to go, next up Man United away, we lost to them at home.
In fact in another remarkable coincidence, we lost to Chelsea,
Arsenal and ManU in quick succession earlier this season
mirroring what's happening in real life....

New signings:
Juninho (Lyon)
Robbie Keane (Spurs)
Mutu (Fiorentina)
Odonkor (Dortmund)
Caldwell (Watford)

Sold:
Gerrard to Barca :-) (could not resist the 17k points)
Fowler
Zenden
Crouch
Guthrie

Robbie Keane has been the signing of the season so far,
banging in 12 goals in about the same games....
Kuyt also is on 12 goals....

Hoping to qualify for the CL, and make a few more signings
next season.

Seasons going well, sitting in 2nd place just behind Inter.

Looking forward to the next transfer window, have a few players on the agenda. Peckhart is a good looking prospect, only 19, huge and quick Also looking at Gekas up front. The other player who is getting my attention is Maxwell, Brazilian from West Ham.

Only brought in Scurto (CB) in pre-season. I always sign Mphela (signed him last season) and from what I've read he's actually a striker, but he's a midfielder in the game. However I'll keep him as a midfielder.

Started my 2nd season with Liverpool, after finishing 3rd last season...
Juninho who was ineffective was traded for Gerrard from Barca...
the scouser returning back to Anfield after a failed stint
at Catalunya...
Konchesky, Mascherano, and Maurino(right-back) joined to
bolster the defensive side of things at Anfield...
Adrian Mutu has started the season off on fire...scoring goals
in friendlies and getting a crucial winner 1:0 at home to Roma
in the Champions League 1st group stage....we're paired also
with Valencia and Sampdoria...
and half-way through that stage
we're 1 point ahead of Roma who have recovered well...
Next up we're away to Roma which could decide this group...
but I have a feeling Valencia will soon be making this a 3-way
race...
In the League, we're leading the table after 3 games....the
highlight being a 3:0 home win over Chelsea....the first time
we beat them in 5 attempts....and surprisingly it was a one-sided
game with Robbie Keane hitting 2....it should have been more...

Just lost 2 in a row, at Newcastle and at Roma 2:1 each....
got punished due to some slack defending and letting defenders
get pulled out of position or not clearing their lines....
just like IRL....
Now we must beat Sampdoria and Valencia at Home to be sure
of the next stage of the CL...
Next up is the Merseyside derby against Everton...again
another of our bogey teams, we drew 0:0 and lost 1:0 to them
last season...

Won the merseyside derby last night...2:1 at Anfield...
Everton took the lead against the run of play through Beattie...
but we equalized thru a smart finisy by Mutu....
and won the game in the 2nd half thru Odonkor's close range
finish after a goal mouth scramble...

In the CL, we're almost thru to the final group stage....
after thrashing Sampdoria 4:0 at Anfield....4 goals in 20 minutes
in the 2nd half, Kuyt(2), Keane and Garcia...
We just need a point against Valencia at Home in the last match
to be sure of qualifying...Roma lead the group on 12 pts, we're on 10, Valencia are on 7.

In the FA Cup, we face Arsenal in the 1st round (IRL we're facing them too!!)

After beating Valencia 2:1 at Anfield, we went through to
the next Group stage of the CL, where we are in the Group
of Death with AC Milan, Barcelona and Spurs.
(glad I did'nt end up in an all-english group)

In the FA Cup, leading Arsenal 2:0 after 1st leg (home)...
In the league 4 points clear after 9 games....with a good
run of wins...the biggest win being a 5:0 away thrashing
of hapless Man City....
Robbie Keane, Mutu, Alonso, Sissoko are my best players...
I just love this game....it's so much fun...
thank God I sold my FIFA...

Had a nerve-wracking game in the FA Cup 2nd leg game at Arsenal,
we were leading from the 1st leg 2:0, so it seemed comfortable...
or so I thought...
Ljungberg gave them the lead in the 2nd minute....and then midway
through the 1st half, Alonso and Garcia struck to practically
end the tie, we were leading 4:1 on agg. with 2 away goals...
But Arsenal kept pounding our goal, and finally went up 3:2
with Hleb and Baptista..just before half-time...
In the 2nd half, Baptista added one more to make it 4:2,...one
more and we would be out.....we held on and went thru on away
goals.

In the CL, we had 0:0 draws at Milan (we should have won),
and at home to Barca (which was a bit lucky).
Then we beat Spurs 2:1 at home....now needing to beat Milan
at home to get nearer Barca.

With 5 games to go this season, Liverpool are now 10 pts behind leaders
Chelsea and given up hope of the Title.
After leading the Table for the 1st half of the season, we got stuck
in a bad run of form where we won 5 out of 10, lost 2, drew 3.
One of those defeats at Chelsea 2:1.
The last few matches were very difficult to win, because of a new
found energy and stubborness of CPU teams.... (hmmmm...)
Whereas Chelsea have won 9/10 matches or so...

In the FA cup, we were leading Reading 1:0 from the Away leg,
and in the Home leg, we took the lead, but they won 3:1
(Again, this has happened so many times in the D1 cups...I'm sure
it's scripted to behave like this...)

In the CL, things look better, we qualified with Barca from our Group.
Beat Sevilla 5:2 on aggregate in the QFinals...
Now we face ManUnited in the Semi-Final, with the other Semi being
between Barca and Chelsea.

So an All-English Final could be looming...

The 2nd season for Liverpool ended, with mixed results....

In the CL Semi-Final,
1st leg v Man Utd at Anfield:
We lost 5:3 at Home, in which United were ruthless and took advantage
of a few defensive blunders and indecisiveness.
2nd leg at OT:
A tight game 0:0 in which we were starved of chances by a defiant
United rearguard.

In the League:
Chelsea were crowned back-back champions, and it was a 3-horse race
for the 2nd place (automatic CL qualification) between us, Man U and Newcastle.
We faced ManU at Anfield on the last day needing to win, and we took
our revenge with a 3:1 win courtesy of 2 goals by Golden-boot winner
Adrian Mutu.

So into the transfer period, I'm mulling over the idea of whether
to give Liverpool one last season in the pursuit of silverware...
The League looks very difficult when Chelsea keep winning by 10-12 pts.
The CL and FA Cup looks our only bets....
Or maybe try another League .... The Bundesliga or French league might
be a good change...or even a return to Serie A.

mathew, I was very disappointed in certain elements of WE10's engine but I guess the positives outweigh any negatives as it's the version I'm playing, not WE9/PES5 (quite something considering it's got no fancy kits, either). I only started this ML about three days ago and I've finished the season, not had that 'must play again' feeling for a while.

Yeah the crowds are disappointing, but it's nothing new. On the plus side, the fact the other teams now try to buy your players again is a great thing. It also appears to be done correctly, i.e. it was Real Madrid who came in for my top man, Fernando, and not Blackburn Rovers. I also had to turn down numerous bids for Joaquin from (again) Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich. Kallstrom is playing for Real Madrid in my game, so it seems they've got the big players and big clubs matched nicely.

SPMC - yep, someone else read that comment and gave me the Lopera, should be putting it in this evening ;). Thanks anyway
mate!

Great news...this takes the cake for me... If big teams come for ur best players then, i dont really care abt the rest.In WE( u had teams like aston villa... siena... come to buy fabregas am like... this team has not even played uefa champs league or challenged on any fronts before...

It just takes the fun out of it... when madrid, milan, man utd aint having a go at ur players instead buyin some funny names from the new generation players...

Glad they fix that... they shud try fixin the all english group or group of death thing... where u have milan... chelsea...man utd...bayern in one group... just takes the fun out of the champs league.. cuz u can almost see any easy passage to the crown.

Into my 3rd and final season at Liverpool FC.
We were pretty close to the top of the league
until a few bad results, especially a frustrating
0:0 draw at leaders Chelsea have all but left us fighting
for 2nd place with Arsenal & Man Utd.

The Cups are looking a better prospect of our first ever
piece(s) of silverware.
In the FA Cup Semi-Final, we're leading 2:1 from the Home 1st leg
against Chelsea....surely the advantage is with them, after
Robben's away goal at Anfield.
The other semi is between Newcastle and ManU.

In the CL, we had romped through the group stage winning all
6 games (vs Chelsea, PSG, Monaco).
In the Q-Finals, we were paired with probably one of the best
teams in Europe, Inter Milan.
The 1st leg was at Anfield. Defoe and Mutu started up front
for us, against Adriano and Crespo for them.
We took the lead thru Defoe, but lost 2:1 at home after strikes
from Vieira and Crespo in a game where Inter showed their class.
So into the 2nd leg, needing to win by 2 clear goals at the
famous San Siro.
The game started slowly with both teams being cautious like
a chess match. Slowly but surely we began to get more adventurous
when Mutu spun off Materazzi and forced a fine save from Toldo.
Few minutes later he went just wide...Inter did not heed the
warning signs, and finally Mutu scored a sublime opening goal.
Liverpool needing 1 more to go through...but still having an
hour to play...Inter then quickly equalized thru Zlatan.
The 2nd half, Liverpool upped the tempo and started dominating
pushing the Italians on the back foot. Defoe made it 2:1 after
some fantastic play by Gerrard to set him up.
With the game heading for extra-time, Pennant went on a mazy
run before drawing 3 Inter players to one side and then sliding
a perfect through ball for an on-rushing Gerrard to hammer home
from 8 yards out...it was curtains for Inter....
Mutu added another one late on, and Liverpool romped through
to the Semis with a 4:1 win at the San Siro..
similar to the result Arsenal had a few yrs ago.

Liverpool face AS Roma in the Semis, with
the other one being Barca-ManU.

could anyone tell me how long it takes for classic players to appear in the masterleague because they are not in it right at the start
