The Master League adventures thread

Or in a more general sense, the growth type can be random some times. They have these random beakthroughs, where the form arrow is shinning, where they gain some significant increase in OPR. Then it is the team role, a 17yo player who is "YOUTH PROSPECT" gains more XP points than a 17yo who is not. A "Protégé" gains even more XP. After it depends on other players, if you have a "MAESTRO" , players with the same registered position take more xp amnd when he is a captain every player takes more xp.

If you scroll down HERE, it explains all the effects of team roles. Fortunately or Unfortunately these RPG elements affect a lot the player development.
Oh, thank you. And how do you earn these roles in the game?

Oh, thank you. And how do you earn these roles in the game?

Youth Prospect is automatic when you first start playing a player from your youth team. I believe Protege is just young players that you play often enough (but hard to really nail it down). I'm not sure about the rest, but I imagine they have similar appearance and stat triggers (a little like the stats required to train new skills). I've not seen any real analysis in depth on it though.

Mostly whay @Negatrev said for the basics. If you browse your players stats tabs, there is a page with mental stats, charisma, passion, lonewolf etc... Depending on tgese stats and sliders, the role is developed. The most common i have seen is a Team Player lvl.3, became a smartplayer or playmaker.

MASTER LEAGUE MOMENTS: EPISODE 5

yuDJGWN.png

Life in the Premier League has been interesting, on the whole teams do prevent a greater challenge than the Championship sides did, but I can't help feel it is often unbalanced with regards to how teams perform, I have beat Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea, and drew against Liverpool and City, but then been smashed by Leicester, beaten by West Brom, drew against Norwich, I know in the real life Premier League, any team can beat any other team on their day, but in PES, the gulf in class and quality between sides isn't all that visible.

Pre-season saw us bring in a few new faces, and having just left the January transfer window of season 3, a few more players left and a couple of new faces were added. 38yr old Robben was decent out on the right wing, grabbed a few goals but I'm looking to plan long term and with Robben in decline, I opted to sell him after West Brom came in with a £2.9 mil bid, it also freed up £1.2 mil in wages, he was replaced by Ricardo Quaresma, the 16yr old regen, whom I found in the 'Other' category, no transfer fee, and only 500k wages, he's already rated 80 at just 16 and has numerous skills including fighting spirit, rising shots, penalty specialist, and others.

I also splashed out £26.4 mil on a new CF, Martinez, an 81 rated CF, who is now playing up top with Arcas next to him in the SS role, Candellone is backup, with Tevez, the other ageing legend, at 38yrs old, failing to make much of an impact, one of those famous PES players that excite you when you sign them, but fail to show anything of note, his contract is up end of the season, we won't be renewing it.

I've also signed a couple of promising looking youth players as backups in the AMF and RB positions.

The current starting XI and subs look like this:

I was told by the chairman (the bald headed guy in cut-scenes, that looks suspiciously like a project manager at the company I used to work for) that we needed to finish the season with gusto, and he expected that we win every remaining game on the calendar, which i found amusingly ridiculous, a brand new team, promoted in the second season in charge, currently 10th in the Premier League, exceeding the pre-season objective which was to avoid relegation, and he expected a January to May unbeaten run!

It's these little details all over ML that really let Konami down, the 'broken' transfers, the objectives, the pointless repetitive cut-scenes, the lack of any real interaction with players, the unrealistic fixtures, ie 4 away games in a row, every one of them at night time, the lack of any varied stadia to play in across a league season, and the ones you do play in all have foreign signs and ad boards over them, Master League wan't 'remastered' at all, in fact its probably the weakest ML for some years, and that's pushing it.

Don't even get me started on the abysmal commentary, see the example below:

Here's the league position after 30 matches, can't complain with mid-table on Top Player in our first Premier league season. The goals scored is healthy, its the goals against that have let us down, obviously as that's how you lose matches, by conceding goals, but is something we need to shore up for next season if aiming for European places is our aim.

To finish, below is a short compilation of the most recent ML goals.

I'm enjoying reading your stories guys.

After installing CYPES 2.0 option file and their Bundesliga teams addition, I decided to start a ML with US Orléans in Ligue 2. I choose them because their the worst team in Ligue 2 with the smallest squad. I believed this would make things challenging. I'm playing on professional mode. Switched transfer off for the start of the game (helps getting to know my current squad).

I had a really bad start to the season, 1 win and a lot of draws and losses. I was languishing in the bottom four for a while. I was trying to figure out a formation that would suit my team and what players that would best utilise each position. Plus I had to be conscious of players not in the starting 11 (e.g. I wasn't leaving anyone out that is capable of being a regular starer and I was giving younger players enough games). I got knocked out in the second round of the french league cup, which is okay, because I got a small squad, so I wouldn't be able to rotate player efficiently. It been going well recently in the league; I've gone on a four game winning streak. It hasn't been easy though, I've won those games by 1 goal (e.g. 1-0, 2-3).

So far, I've been enjoying the ML. I'm find it challenging, but satisfying. I like the news reports they have in the middle of the menu. It makes things immersive. I hope Konami adds a lot more scenarios/stories in future additions of the game. I can imagine it getting repetitive the more seasons you play. They should have at least 100 unique scenarios. :D Like if a player is a regular starter and you drop him, only coming as a sub, then there could be a report of how the player is unhappy or that his still fighting to get back in the starting 11. For this scenario to trigger, they have to play regularly for a year or more and after this three months has to go past where you haven't placed them in the starting 11. Their reaction may be dependent on a ability like Team Player. Another reaction, is they may put in a transfer request after being dropped. This could add a new dimension to managing your team.

Anyways, I 'll add more information about team and current progress, when I get some time.

I had a player who got injured, but it wasn't an injury he picked during a game. I was wondering, do players get injured if you play them while they are fatigued? I don't even play Ephestion regularly though. May be they pick up injuries outside of matches, like during training, depending on their Injury Resistance? Ephestion's Injury Resistance is a 2.

Also, the fans gave my team's current top scorer an odd nickname. :P

After Cremonese (lost in the playoff final against Chievo Verona) I went to Chievo Verona for my 2nd season. That was quite a controversial move (leaving my former team in Serie B for the team that went to the Serie A instead). I didn't really like the team, so after a pretty uneventful half year I went to Colombia to manage Allianza Petrolera.

The start of the season has been up-and-down, but I do think that we will find our form. We play a 4-1-4-1 formation with a squad that includes the regens of Theo Gutierrez and Robin van Persie. We've also got a guy called Huisman who has some pretty unusual stats for a Centre Back (for example: passing stats being 90+).

What really helps me play is the 4-1-4-1 formation coupled with the Stadium cam (0,4,10) which are both being used by the YouTuber called SpoonyPizzas.

I've just signed Ampadu to my AC Milan ML in the january transfer window. Just 8 million Euros. A real steal. I used him as a DM in his first game and the guy looks like a beast. I'm going to convert him from CB to DM. I already have Oriol Busquets as a DMF (Anchor man), i'm not sure if i should make Ampadu a Destroyer or leave him on balanced training as Build Up. What do you guys advice. I play with 4-1-2-3 or 4-2-1-3

I've realised the start of the season is always hard. New manager, new team and team spirit isn't the best. Understanding your tactics takes time. Most of my losses came in pre-season and during the first half of the season. I almost sold Piantek (fox in the box). I've never played with such a player before but he scores ridiculous goals. I decided to give it a chance and kept tweaking until i found a formation, first 11 and counter attacking style that works to his strengths and now the game are joy including the losses.

This game is adaptive but scripting is still there. Still a lot of joy. Cant wait for Data Pack 2.

Can i ask you guys. I've seen many of you have mentioned tge "pre-season" and i remember in the pre-release period , KONAMI mentioned re-worked preseason. Is there any specific objective to do , cause me starting every season with small default fake club, the only pre-season matches i see are the ICC , where i can't obviously participate cause i am not a champion. Are there preseason friendly games in the licensed leagues?

Also @herodownunder as a manager i am very strict, almost "racist" grumpy against the players with strange haistyles. Players like Ampadu or similar with crazy dreadlocks, or others with long hair that is not an elegant ponytail, do not have place in my teams. I only "allow" the very short "army type" hair style, can't remember the haircut name from GTA SA, or medium-short, or small mohawks with shaved sides, or reduced bodies . Also people with weird hair paints do not pass the training camp's door, like green-red hair or platinum-blond painted hair. I am lenient with earrings, which do not exist in PES anymore, and a little bit lenient with tattoos , when it is something not very extreme!!!!
You can come from any place or race of the world, i am open to anyone. You just can't have a 2000-Britney Spears hairlook because you like. This is a FC i manage here, not the Backstreet Boys!
Yes i am a too old-school grandpa!!!!! :P :P

If I were to start a master league now would I have to start again when patch at end of month comes?

For gameplay changes, unlikely (I don't want to say no for sure as you never know!). However, for any database changes (player transfers, formation changes and so on) you'll need to start a new ML to have those in your game.

Funny thing is i've always liked the opposite when it come to hair and tattoos (Guendouzi fan) but my main issue is Faces. I don't buy players who don't have real faces and usually sell those who don't have real faces. I try to aim for ""Regional Balance" in my Master league but the rules i stick to are 40% of my squad must be Nationals of the league i'm managing in. I focus on 25 - 28 man squad with 18 main players i use most. So basically , 8 Italians minimum. Most of my purchases must be based in the league and by my second season i must have "Regional Balance". Players from all continents.

And i never buy more than 3 to 4 players per window. 6 players max per season.

As per pre-season. Its ICC as far as i know. Nothing has changed.

Thanks dude, how do you deactivate it? i didn't know you could,
Depends on the controller. On PS4 it’s the touchpad. Could be some special/start/select button on any other controller.

So when the celebration after a goal starts, you have a few seconds to press that button (as long as the tips tile is shown upper right side of the screen).

Started a "test" ML with Feyenoord days ago on Top Player and boy, it delivers.

I previously tried one with Herenveen, always on Top Player, and it was a complete disaster.. two points in 5 games, inability to create chances, definitely too hard.

Feyenoord has a significantly better roster and it shows, the game is still challenging but finally I can play some football, make some points and definitely have fun.
Only sign I could make with the few money I had (love that you finally can't buy stars left and right with every possible team) was a 38 years old free agent Denis, as Jorgensen sub, as otherwise I wouldn't have another big forward. I've also sold many young players I know wouldn't play.

For now I even, let's put it this way, don't dislike the cutscenes. Let's see what comes next.

Feyenoord is a good choice :p

I´m still with Twente, for two and a half seasons. First season was a disgrace. About 4 or 5 points lol. Second season I got some really old stars on loan, and things changed. Now on third season, really know my team well and I´m fighting for the 2nd place, and I´m on the Europa League finals round. Playing on TP as well. Really loving it!

Had an offer from Feyenoord and Ajax already, really great teams, but after some thinking I decided to end this season on Twente, and see how far I can go on the European route. Things might get a bit hard now, because I decided to let go Jonas and Robben from their ending loan periods, and I´m giving a chance on my youngsters. So far so good, let´s just see if they can keep up for the rest of the matches.

I thought giving talents every opportunity they can get will lead to a rapid increase in their stats. I'm astonished that they just went up by a couple of points at best across the whole season. :-/ Am I missing out on something? So far the only guy that had an increase of I think 4-5 points was Hudson-Odoi, but he got mentioned in my news feed as someone who shoes a lot of talent, so I knew this was gonna happen. Didn't expect it to be this low, though.

Well, consider their age and starting stats. Not every player can become the best in the world (the best players are mid 90s in game I believe). So not only must you have a player who's growth chart supports them possibly getting to 90+, you also need to wait a few years for them to train up to that level. Obviously not every player is the same, but most would be said to peak around 27/28 for outfield positions. So even if Odoi was 22, if he increased by 5 points every season he would still be the best in the world in 4 years. So an increase overall of 1-2 points in a year is a fairly decent return.

With my hiring policy, most of the youngsters in my team are nearly 80 OVR before they're even 20.

That's a pretty big number!

After 5 seasons, you tend to get good youth players and if you pick the right training regime, you can get them to high 70s without even promoting them. It takes very little time for them to hit 80 as long as they get some game time (although sometimes I'll send a youth on loan (which means you have to sign to the main team) if their stats are already good and you just want them to get a stats boost).

Just noticed that Hudsoin-Odoi only improved by 2, even though he has been rated highly by the game.
